    Hey guys need some help
December in Mass means lots of unpredictable weather, and we have only a few weeks left of season. So I was wondering if you had any tips on closing out in wet weather. I know that the deer are generally going to be bedded down in the wet weater but I was just wondering if there is anything that I could do to improve my odds. Thanks

Oversized quality rain gear that you can keep your warm layers on under. Just got to be out in the woods at the right time. Deer have to move throughout the day usually at some point (if its raining or not). You want to be out there if the rain breaks and the deer start moving right after. As for keeping your bow dry...... i keep my Primos bow sling over the string as much as possible if it is raining a little bit. If it is a full on downpour, Im in a blind staying as dry as possible.

Be ready if its a heavy rain or snow cause the deer will be on the food soon after. Most importantly stay warm and wear layers.

Hard to beat wool for late season, right before or after a big snow they move to feed.

If you choose to be out there. I like Frogg Togg rain gear over my usual seasonal gear. It's light and packable.
Like mentioned be alert, the woods will be quiet for walking deer and BE READY.

Wax your string to keep it dry. Scotch Guard works great for short rain and for feathered arrows. Spray silicon or Original Pam nonstick spray helps keep moving parts dry. Reduce your max bow-range and take standing broadside shots only so you still have great blood trails when it is raining as you won't be able to leave the trail overnight. Stay dry with an overgarment but keep in mind bulky clothing probably needs to come off before the shot or your string may catch on your bow arm. To do this quickly, when you are sitting, don't put your arms in the sleeves and you can have it off in seconds without much movement.Allow extra time for climbing into your stand to avoid slipping and be extra careful about hypothermia. If you start shivering uncontrollably get up and move around to get your core temperature back up or go home. Jumping jacks are a great way to get the blood flowing. Energy bars help tremendously to stay warm but they require drinking plenty water to work properly. Don't throw in the towel if it rains, I have killed lots of deer in the rain. They do move around a lot more in bad weather than many people realize; especially when bad weather lasts several days.
