I got a good deal on one last year and needless to say I was impressed after I got the map chip and figured out the simplistic operating system and methods of the device. It worked perfect, calibrated every so often to be spot on, alarm clock in the tent was nice, compass to find places in the field, and I am not a fan of the extra costs associated with having an on board camera or a touch screen so the button operation was more suited to my liking and worked well with gloves in cold weather. With the changing times I would agree Garmin does know this process well and most times one would not be disappointed. The long antenna is the way to go as well as looking into the longest battery life when deciding what model to run with. Cabellas had a flyer which came in the mail not to long ago showing the 62s for what I thought was a smoking deal and even though they may discontinue the model I may still like the device as most older models should still pick up the sattelite.

The Garmin etrex 20 has great reviews and gives a lot of bang for the $$.

The etrex series are great. Only downside to the 20 is the lack of an electronic compass.

If anybody missed it, amazon is having a sale on Lowa Tibet boots.

I know they are one of the better quality boots, and I'm in need for a solid boot for mountain whitetail and future elk hunts.

Anyone have them? No dealer in my area has them so can't really try them out.

I personally have not worn them but I know several guys who have. I have never heard a bad thing.

Yeah, that compass is KEY! I would not want one that did not have one.
