Hey guys, I had a pretty good run this year in Arkansas. Only problem is that it was so good I can’t hunt any more. Anyway, wanted to have another state in mind so I could keep hunting next year if the problem arose again. I’ve looked into the above WMAs and they have some really crazy rules. Just wondering if the juice is worth the squeeze. It’d be a closer drive for me than where I hunt in AR but you can only hunt 3 days a week. So if you’ve heard things or have hunted there please let me know what you think.

While I only live 30 minutes or so from Meeman Shelby I've never hunted there myself.

My son-in-law hunts there quite a bit though, and based on what he's told me as long as you're willing to hike in a ways to get away from the majority of the hiking trails there is some really good hunting there: Good deer numbers and some pretty good bucks. If you're close it would probably be worth checking out.

I’m not scared to do that at all! Most of the places I hunt are at least a 3/4 zmile walk/bike ride in. I’ve got a podcast where I talk about staying fit for public land hunting ( huntzillapodcast2.com ) I’m from west Memphis so the drive isn’t too far. Just didn’t want to pay $300 dollars for an out of state license and it be ridiculous with the rules and regs and the cherry on top being that there’s not good deer there. I appreciate sir!

Not one you mentioned, but I've ran camera's on the TN side of LBL....deer numbers are low, but the place has some solid bucks. It's just as good as anything west KY has to offer.

I've always wanted to check that place out but I've just never done it.

The deer density is pretty low, but it has some really nice buck's if you can catch up with one. If I kill early next year, I'm probably gonna pickup a TN tag.

If they have campsites there, let me know if you end up going. I'll bring the new TT and provide lodging, food and anything you want to drink if you'll demonstrate some of your scouting skills. :tu:

Alright so I’ve been calling the guys that runs Eagle Lake refuge because that’s what TWRA suggested I do. He hasn’t answered one time in almost a week. There’s something about closed for use from nov 15th- end of February too??? I still haven’t had an answer about whether or not you have to check in before and after your hunt. Not from the SF visitor center or TWRA. Next option is just to call a game warden because I can’t get any answers from these tool bags. Really pisses me off how you can’t get the information you need. [IMG]

No, I've never been to Eagle Lake. Hopefully LittleChief can help you out.

They are the same as Shelby Forrest is what I was told... even still I’d like to know what the deal is with Shelby forest. just wondering what the deal is with check in stations, this business with not being allowed to enter/exit the woods until 1hr before sunrise/after sunset. And of course that little bit ab November 15th.
