Incredible pictures and videos coming out of this area. I'm not sure how the guy and his child lived after taking that video that's on youtube.
Reports are saying 5 - 6 first responders are missing and as many as 15 total fatalities. Looking at the pictures one would have to think that number would rise quickly throughout today.

I can't imagine being in these people's shoes. Many prayers they're way.

I Just saw the video. Thats is crazy. From my stand point and having just learned about how dangerous fertilizer can be during a fire. It just puts it into perspective on how dangerous it is for firefighters. Im not sure how long it was burning but looking at the video that thing was rockin, and i could tell it was going to end well from the start.

Just watched the video also. I can't believe the explosion impacted that far away. I can only imagine being at the building.

I just read there is still another tank still that didnt explode. They need to get on that and make sure it doesnt overheat or they are in for some more trouble.

Its sad and awful that this happened, but in a way it helping me learn put in perspective not just what im being taught right now in my fire service classes but also that things can change so quickly and the recent events can take someone away in a second that we cant take anything for granted.

It's a trajedy for the first responders that were trying to stop this from happening. They had to know going into it that it was risky and how volotile the material is.
Also for the guy taking the video, that's dumb to put your child in that kind of danger. I can only assume that he didn't think it would blow up, or it wouldn't be that large... but if there was a fertilizer plant on fire and my child was with me, the pedal would be to the floor in the opposite direction, not stopping for video.

The blast measured a 2.5 on the Richter scale according to the news. Folks as much as 50 miles away felt and heard it.

West is pretty small, a proud Czech town famous for kolaches and pies. Some really sweet people. I always stop there when I head south.

As if things weren't crummy enough, a front blew through last night and temps have dropped 30 degrees with high wind and rain. Keep the folks down there in your thoughts.

    Unbelievable... unbelievable.

Lord God, in the name of Jesus, I pray Your hand of providence over this town. Protect those still in harms way. Comfort those who lost loved ones and give strength to those providing medical aid...amen

I couldn't believe how big the explosion was. I hope this was an accident and not set on fire. Prayers for all involved.

I am a volunteer firefighter myself. Incidents like this really hit home. Unfortunately right outside of our run area are several industrial complexes, some making fertilizer and others being all types of nasty chemicals. Prayers for everyone involved and their families.

As a first responder, situations like this are the biggest nightmare imaginable. Anhydrous Ammonia is NASTY stuff. Its a tragedy what happened to everyone involved and the situation is far from over unfortunately.

Ive read that they have first responders there from over 100 miles away. Nothing makes me more proud then brothers/sisters coming together during times of tragedy.

I can only imagine the feelings that course through you as you enter a situation such as this. My hats off to you and all those that do this for a living. Totally agree about it being far from over.

We actually learn quiet a bit about this in school down here. Only reason being is the Arkansas river is a mile from my house and several hundred thousand pounds of this stuff goes up an down the river everyday. Pretty freaky!
