but found some stone! I kinda got sidetracked shed hunting. After I checked my wheat field I noticed one of these laying in the disced up ground next to it. I kept looking and found more and more. Some are in good shape, some broken and some only rough shaped but cool finds. I have seen the dished out one called a paint bowl before, but not really sure that is what I found.

    Awesome finds John!

I have only found one in my life. It was back in 2002 while digging in the wheelchair ramp for a new cabin we were building at camp. Two years ago, a customer found a perfect one in the exact same spot.

Maybe I should be looking around there more!

    Cool!

Don't show those to that guy who went on that 3d shoot with us that one time... well, it was a 3d shoot for us; I think it was an arrowhead-looking trip for him. :d

Great job John! Well worth the trip.

I've heard to look at the base of large blow downs. I guess some tribes would use the trees as markings for where they stashed their supplies, tools, arrowheads, etc. When the tree blows down, the root mass lifts them up for easy pickings.

Other than that, you can't beat a crop field after plowing or an old pasture that has been plowed for the first time in a while. (Problem is, around here anyways, not many farmers plow still. Current deep tillage doesn't turn the soil like plowing, it is mainly breaking compaction layers under the top soil and only burying the trash on top).

Good stuff. I was at an outdoors show today and there was a guy selling arrowheads for $10 to $15 each.

Awesome find!! Do you know which Indians lived in that area John?? The area I first started bowhunting on has had a lot or arrowheads and cutting heads show up in years past. Many are on display at Lake Shabbona, Illinois.

Yes Schultzy, I have found over 100 pieces since the field was plowed up last August. There must have been a camp at one time up on the hill where the field is now. I'll be discing the field up again soon getting rteady to plant so who knows how many more will be uncovered.
