Yup, I got a pacemaker on Thursday. So in checking out they gave me all the does and don'ts. When we got to shooting a bow she says, nope, not until maybe the middle of October. That sucks. That's about when the season ends here in the Northern Tier. Besides that, I won't have practiced at all. Can't pull anything more than lifting 10 pounds with my left arm right now for 2 weeks. WElll last year I was sick..... this year I'm cured... 2 seasons gone. I had my buddy that I got into bowhunting 4 years ago, shoot one for me last year.
Get well and aclimated first, and heed the Drs advice on diet and meds. The deer will wait (at least till gun season) Fishing poles may be less than 10lbs though, you can alway head over to Salmon river Small world, the first 6 years of my life were spent in Camden and my Dad had land over in Westdale, just a stones throw from you.
What about a crossbow? Absolutely no shame in that and i know i would have one in my hand if i weren't allowed to pull a bow. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
Nope.. not a crossbow type guy and really, it's tough in NY to get a permit. I've killed enough deer with a bow to make me happy for the time being. My buddy got me on a deer extermination team down by Ithaca. I can go down there later in the year and whack all the does I want to. It's just it's a haul to get there and the deer are tiny compared to an Adirondack deer. I'll just have to limit my practice and distances since I'll have been out of it for so long. I can still kill a deer I know. It's that 70 pounds that's going to be the trick.
Get a new doctor... those guys don't know nuthing... Seriously, glad you're doing well and do follow their instructions. If you want to come down to Bama, I can hook you up through January 31.
Take care, get better and maybe you can get out later in the season. You can always come down to De and hunt with me. Archery season runs Sept. 1 - Jan. 31.
In Iowa, if you are a disabled vet with arthritis or any shoulder or arm injury, you can get a lifetime crossbow license. If I ever get to the point where my right arm cannot hold the bow as I draw back, I will use a crossbow.
David, I'm serious. I know you live up by the Finger Lakes, but its only a short drive to Delaware. Believe it or not we have some big deer down here. I was shooting at my archery club recently and saw a 6-8 pointer. IM me and when u get to the point you can draw back, we'll set something up.
