Well, last night my fiance brought up the idea of me getting a new bow and her helping to pay for some of it off as an early b-day present for me.... needless to say, I checked out E-Bay as I am not really wanting a 2010 model simply because nothing has caught my eye as being worth the price. Well, I searched lastnight without finding anything and pretty much gave up on the idea. This evening I decided to check one last time and found a brand new 2009 BowTech Sentinel for a VERY good price. Well.... the order has been placed and I will be waiting to recieve my new bow :D I can't wait.... I love my 82nd... it was definetly a great bow and it performed higher than I could ever expect it to, but I wouldn't be telling the truth if I said that it was a "fun" bow to shoot. It had a little more noise, kick, and vibration than the other bows on the market, and the insane speeds had to come from somewhere. I love the bow, but it's gotta go:D Gonna outfit with a LimbDriver rest, Octane Stabilizer, Octane Quiver, and I'm up in the air about the sight... I could keep the Sword or try something different!
Keep the sword or at least get a new one! Great sights and I have them on both my Bowtechs! Congrats on the new purchase! I was really wanting the Sentinel last year but ended up buying the Admiral.
The 82nd wasn't fun for me to shoot, either. I agree.....the speed came from "somewhere". Good luck with your new choice.
Something different... something with a "high IQ"??? lol.... http://www.bowhunting.com/blog/post/2010/02/14/NEW-IQ-Bowsight-set-to-Revolutionize-Bowhunting!.aspx Write us up a review on it then...
Congrats on the new bow. There is something to be said about the Sentinels. They seem to be very popular.
I am not going to say the Sentinel is my favorite bow ever (the Allegiance is) but, it is my favorite bow to shoot.... Hope that makes sense
Thanks guys... I just wanted something that I have as much fun shooting as I did my 2006 Old Glory. I really enjoyed shooting that bow and that helped me become more accurate with it... my 82nd was a good bow, but I couldn't find the extra motivation to shoot it more than I had to. Donnie- I am probablly going to keep the Sword, it is a great site and I like the fact that it isn't a really heavy sight. Scott- I fully understand what you mean. I can't wait to get back to a bow that I really enjoy shooting, so far my 04 Liberty, and my 06 Old Glory were my two favorite bows to shoot, I am sure the Sentinel is going to be right there with them.
i found my replacement but keeping my 09 82nd for a back up cause its almost as fast as my replacement.
So the IBO Northeast Indoor 3D Championship is this weekend, and I'm planning to shoot my Sentinel in this event. Last night was my local indoor league, and instead of using my 49lb Constitution which is setup specifically for spots with fat Triple X arrows, I decided to shoot my Sentinel which is set for 3D specifically at 62lbs, at 302fps with skinny Pro 22's, just to get some more time in with it before the event this weekend. Even with the skinny arrows, I shot the same average (444) that I've been shooting all season long with my indoor specific Constitution. Had I been shooting the fatter shafts, I'd have picked up another 2 points and a boatload of X's too. This Sentinel holds considerably better than my Constitution. I'm honestly thinking about ditching the Constitution completely for indoors and just planning to have 2x Sentinel's around, one for indoors, one for outdoors.........
I am looking forward to spending some QT with my Sentinel this weekend. First weekend in 2010 that I haven't had to work or plow snow.
Matt, I stumbled upon a post of yours a while back on AT commenting that you felt you shot shorter (target bow speaking) ATAs better than longer ATA (37-38" vs 41"+). Do you still believe that to be the case? Any ideas why? I'm only asking because, for being 41" ATA and a VERY generous BH, I don't even feel as if I'm holding as well as I anticipated (comparing it directly to my 36" 101st).
That post must have been a while ago...I'm guessing 2006? I went through a point several years ago where I shot some 36-37" ata bows really well, both indoors and out. Then I went to 40" plus bows and shot some fantastic scores both indoors and out with them too. The Constitution for the past 3 years has been my "go to" option for both indoors and out, I loved that I could use the same platform for both venues and still get the forgiving characteristics of the 8"+ of brace height. With that said, I think it's something about the geometry of the center pivot design that just makes my Sentinel hold sooooo much better..........I don't think it's the ATA length at all. If your Constitution isn't holding as well as you like I'd suggest you really play with some stabilization to get that thing holding the way you want. The Constitution is a pure bred target bow and is going to need the right stabilizer setup to really shine.
Yep, the post was a while back. I'm shooting an Xtreme X-3 12" with the adjustable weights. I've played with the weight system, but no change really. Then again I haven't had a ton of time to spend with it. I'm not planning to add V-bars or target length stabs which is why I'm considering selling it. BM, sorry for the hijack, bud.
