My early archery season ended last night (PA has two more days left, but I'm heading out of town tonight, so it was my last sit), and I'm eating tag soup at this point. I still have two weeks coinciding with rifle at the beginning of December (not sure what I'm doing at this point), and our late season comes in the day after Christmas, but chances dwindle drastically if not tagged out during our "early" six week season. It's been a hard season for me. I'm not sure I can quite describe it really, because while I had the most action during the first three weeks, I've ever seen, I'm still walking away with tags in hand due to terrible shooting on my part.

I know I need to make changes for next season, and it has to happen right now. I have some plans and I'm going to try to learn much more in terms of subtle terrain features that I may be overlooking, especially for the seeking/chasing phases.

I keep a daily journal during the season, and I thought I would share a few "stats," for my season. Looking at it statistically, my last three seasons have improved with each year, so I suppose that's a good sign.

    Sits: 29 (3 mornings/26 evenings)

    Hours: 66.25hrs

    Sightings: 84

Bucks: 10 (several sighed multiple times)

    Shooters:4

    Shooter’s in range (30yds and under): 3

    Misses: 2

    Bucks Before Nov. 1: 8

    Bucks After Nov.1 : Three (Spike, 4, and 6)

The last two items are my biggest concern, and I really need to take a look at my approach, property, etc. Something isn't right.

Good luck to everyone still at it.
