With Christmas fast approaching, lets here of some well intentioned hunting gifts you've received in the past that really didn't pan out like the giver intended.

I bring this up as I'm in a "1st Christmas" situation and I'm a little nervous that I don't get one of "those" gifts where where I am smiles & thank you's on the outside, but oh no, I'll never use this on the inside. :moose:

Mine is the opposite of your example... Someone gave me Camo bed sheets one year as a joke gift thinking that I wouldn't use them.... They are still on my bed I love them lol

I can't remember getting a bad gift for hunting. The wife is well trained in that department !! :p Everyone else gives me gift cards. They all know I am picky when it comes to my hunting stuff.

Wished I could say the same about a couple of the purchases I have made though with the gift cards over the years. It seemed like a good thing to buy at the time that just never panned out.

Anyone need a one man ground blind or a gun sled ?? Still new in the box. I will sell them cheap !!

My mother is a great woman however doesn't know anything about hunting or the equipment that is good or not so good. She is constantly getting me crap from L.L. Bean like cheap crappy binos or some new gadget that she deems out doorsy that she thinks I will like. I have a box full of this junk that I give to my nephews to play with or that will only be used in SHTF situation. Honestly I have not found a time when I needed a combo folding spoon, knife, fork thing.

She thinks gift cards are too impersonal but I'd rather have the funds so i can buy what I will use. No mom a pair of $12 binos are probably not going to be of much use or of good quality. After almost 30 years I think she is starting to get it though. We will see after Sunday.

The really cheap trailcams. I returned them and got something that will actually work.

The hot seat pad that straps to your belt... One side blaze orange the other side camo. Seems to be filled with packing peanuts..

At least they r thoughtful enough to get me something for the sport they know i love so much. Thought that counts

A small fold up shovel..... what possible use could I have for this while hunting in PA? A "wind up" flashlight, stays lit for bout 40 seconds then needs 10 minutes of turning the handle to get another 45 seconds of light.

Another thing I have received after further thought is a knife big enough to used a machete in the freaking rain forest.

The person thought that because I hunt "big game” that I needed a “big knife”.
