... the last hunt of the season is tomorrow! I'm going to the Chili Shoot and Rabbit hunt tomorrow. Its going to be sunny and 30 degrees, I can't wait! Should be good fun with some tradgangers and WTA guys and gals...eatin, shootin and chasing rabbits! The best part word is there going to be a few different RER bows there to shoot!

Well a great time had yesterday at the chili shoot. This was held at Dale's house from WTA and did he have quite the set up! Being my first shoot ever I had no idea what to expect. I would guess there was 50 or more folks there shooting at 25 targets. Sure was fun, especially the 184 yard elk target! We shot at targets from moose at 20 yards to mt lions that were way up in a tree! I didn't do any hunting in at Dales place, but I did get to shoot a bunch of RER bows. I tell ya they are the ****! The grip is what I REALLY like. Your hand just goes right where its supposed to! I think I shot 5 or 6 different bows out of the 50+ on hand ranging anywhere from 41# to 55#. I even got to shoot Kevins personal bow! WOW! There was one set up that had arrows from 500gr all the way up to 789gr all coming from a 55# LX. I swear the heavier arrow went faster downrange than the lighter arrows, amazing! I got to shoot the new models with the 13" riser, this was a 41# recurve I was shooting and was putting the arrows from 20 yards into a golf ball size groups, yes, golf ball! Actually, I did this with all the bows I shot, pretty amazing! After speaking and shooting the RER bows with Kevin and Joe for a few hours I've come to the conclusion that I will be looking at a 53# @ 28 LX with the 15" riser this spring/summer! All in all a good time was had and looking forward to attending my next shoot!

Ya know Steve, I just shot them, the LX, like I shoot my other bows, with a "lower" wrist! Kevin said he will build the grip any way I want, if I have a old bow that I love the grip on, he would duplicate that grip! But like I said when I picked the bow up my hand just went into "position" and ready to shoot! All I know is that I LIKE IT!

Jeff when you say small do you mean thin?? The new 13" riser has small grip, shorter than the 15" riser grip. For me it would be a tad bit to small if i was wearing gloves while hunting, which I do! The grip has a palm swell that fits just perfect in your hand. Then your index finger just goes in a little groove on top then the rest of the grip kinda flattens out on the bottom! I'd be willing to bet that if he thinned the grip it would be what your looking for!

I didn't shoot any 1 piece Longbows or Recurves! I kicking myself in the ass for not doing so! I'm like you and want a hunting bow but a smooth hunting bow. I figure an extra $100 for bamboo limb core and matching verneers isn't that bad. I think the basic model with standard woods and glassed backed goes for $600. For what I want it'll go for $700. 55# was a bit to much pull for me, I then shot 53# at 62" and it was perfect!

Hey Jeff, there is talk of a few other guys from here wanting to go south with me and Joe is one of them! Could be your lucky day! I'll keep you informed! FYI... Kevin and Sue are the owners of RER, Kevin being the Bowyer and Joe(whip) is his 2nd hand man, he is the internet sales guy, show guy and all around great guy! Kevin and Sue are good people, we sat around the tailgate having a few beers yesterday talking bows! Good time!
