So after a random string of events and a conversation with my dad last night, I'm going turkey hunting this weekend! Never been before and only made the decision about an hour before bed. I have everything thrown together for my trip to the deep south, Rochester I'll be bowhunting with my dad and one of his buddies who will have shotguns. Should make for an interesting trip. Look out Zone 501, I'm coming.
Good luck and have fun. We're hoping to make a trip to do some too. Some say they're making their way up north more. Sure wouldn't mind that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One of my buddies up here has seen one or two while plowing snow up here. I'd love to see more, but we just have so many predators here.
Very true. Probably wouldn't work out. Would be awesome though. You'll just have to work on some predator hunts to take care of that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good luck Fitz! Regarding the turks moving north...when they got near here nobody expected that they would survive the winters and predators, but a couple/few mild winters in a row and within 4 years we had tons of them. These last to years have seen a huge population crash here in the snowbelt though, and the wolves and yotes have really been doing a number on them since the deer population is so low as well.
Had 2 in my field 3 days ago {meadowlands} There is a big group that hangs out by wayside rest on hwy 53 , 20 plus birds that I have seen.
That's sweet. Could be possible I guess to have them moving in, especially after this last winter. Either way would be good, would be nice to get away a little to hunt some too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It doesn't beat deer hunting for me, but ever since I heard those toms gobbling like crazy off the roost I got hooked hunting them. I hope you lay down a paintbrush Fitz!
Good luck Fitz...hopefully it will be time for a teaser post this weekend and get a few people fired up
Good luck Fitz! I was in Rochester a few years back at a custom fishing rod builders place for a day and I couldn't believe the amount of birds that I saw on that trip. Hope it is still like that a few years later for you!
