Not I, but my wife had a prairie dog. Damn thing scared the **** out of me all the time. It was mean. Glad it died about 6 months after we met. Her mother had a porcupine that she used to hold and pet.
Nothing too weird. A guinea pig. I had creepy crawly things like snakes and a really ornery scorpion. (I even showed her the book where it's written that her species was supposed to be docile.. to no avail) If I found a big caterpillar with parasitic eggs on it, I'd pick 'em off and keep the thing until it turned into a moth or butterfly. There's the chickens... I had a woodduck hen that imprinted on me. Also raised pheasants, quail and such. I had another duck later named fang. He was the perv of the duck world. He tried to mate with everything. I had two squirrels that were orphaned in a flood. Hell and Highwater. Hell died of pneumonia early on but I had Highwater for two years until my ex killed him. (on purpose ) Now I have a really, really, weird Labrador. (so I take back that "nothing too weird" statement)
Good call Christine... We have a Duck and a Goose that wander around the farm. The goose is a mean old *****.
Nothin interesting here... Hamsters when I was a young'n, cats, my German Shorthair, and our family's Toy Fox Terrier
Growing up,we had a skunk that we'd raised.A couple of coons,a coyote, even had a gray fox that was easier and better house broken than the dogs. Now we've got a bearded dragon,2 crested geckos,3 leopard geckos,a chinchillia, and have to count the little button buck that shows up every evening when it's time to feed the horses at my parents.
Found a hawk When I was about 14.Me and dad took it home.we didn't think it was going to make it but after about three months of TLC and it was starting to get irritated with the cage it was in we let it go. It would of never made it of we would of left it out there.
My parents wouldn't let me have a horse when I was a kid so I had to ride this to school. No one ever tried to steal him!
I was thinking about getting some peacocks and let them walk around outside the clubhouse at the golf course. Be a kind of weird line item for my employees on their closing duties list (put the peacocks in their cage).
I too had a Redtailed hawk that was blown out of Hurricane Frederick (1979). I named him Rosco and he lived in my bedroom for several months. He quickly took to eating whatever meat I brought him . I finally released him but he hung around the house and would even land on the ground close to us when we were out in the yard as long as the dogs weren't out. Had a possum named Penelope... Penny for short, she was kind of fun. Had a Spider Monkey named Henry... don't ever want another monkey... nasty, smelly animals.
Had dogs, a woodchuck and about 30 pigeons. One of my high school buddies who lived near me had 2 redfoxes and a red squirrel. The squirrel was a destructive little sucker in the house. They let him run free inside.
Not to weird but my pigmy goats are like little dogs they follow me around every where and trained, i say kennel and they go right in
I'm with Christine with the chickens. I don't think it is weird, but some of my neighbors think so. I live in an uppity village, so some of the people are rather eccentric. We love it and my immediate neighbers love the birds too. they bring their grandkids out to see them and the women think they are beautiful. I enjoy having them and the eggs are far superior to store bought. My kids understand the cycle of life also. Sal
