Alright fellas, my hunting night was pretty weird, but interesting.... So i went out and sat on some public land tonight, got in there about 3:30pm. I was there for about an hour....heres what it looked like walking in and on stand.... So I knew i was relatively close to other houses, but not to close...im sitting in the stand....and i hear some kids or something from a distance....so im like what the heck is going on....10 minutes later...i see these kids from a distance in the woods...seriously..im like what the heck is going on..last time i ever hunt near this spot, which i have never had a problem like this in this area..so i figure my hunt is ruin...get down and walk out..really **** off...like cursing all the way to my truck.....I get home tell my father how my hunt went...which was terrible...ruined night... My dad says you do all this hunting everywhere else, why dont you hunt behind our house...joking..im like real funny dad...he says serious go look out back.... So i go out back he shows me an individual tree we planted in the spring, that is held up with wire....the wire is all lose and the tree is rubbed to hell...you can actually see the deer tracks in the mulch...haha...this tree is literally in my back yard...with corn surrounding it...so making a long story short..he asked the neighbor if i could hunt the small neck of woods behind the house...which he claims has alot of deer in it...so a bad day, turned into a good day...here the pictures of the tree... So im going to go check it out tomorrow really quick for some set ups....i hear there are a few big bucks in here...thanks for letting me vent some..
im thinkin about waking up..having some coffee, opening my window at day break, and sit and wait for this buck to come check this out in my back yard...it prolly would only be about 35 yards..haha..just playing...but would be pretty cool story
I've hunted my parents backyard before. My mom plants a lot of shrubs that the deer LOVE. The only problem is they bloom in the spring. So she has a lot of deer in the spring and summer in her back yard but come fall hardly anything.
yeah...im actually gonna put up one of my trail cameras in the back yard..haha see whats making such a massive rub..i hope he comes back
Shooting a deer in your back yard is neat. I still don't care for it that much, but it beats not hutning at all. You have to be thick skinned and deal with noise, neighbors & people "invading" your hunt at any moment. But it can still be productive despite these interuptions.
well i have to deal with that all the time where im from..unless i go onto private land..which i have a few spots, but im more or less a guest with my other buddies....so i gotta take it when i can get it... However, this hunting land behind my house..is private..doesnt let anyone hunt it..we see deer year in and year out behind our house when the corn goes down....but he has never let me hunt there.. My father went and sucked up alittle, having a heart to heart, and told him since i was his next door neighbor i could hunt there..because the deer were tearing his trees up and crop.....so im gonna take advantage of it... But..just think if i just look outside when this monster , (hopefully a monster) was rubbing this tree...i could have watch it..stood up and shot this deer from my bed room windom second story........haha isnt that illegal or something.. There are TONS of large Urban Bucks around our small towns...i guess they feel safe..
