I know the last thing you guys want is a play by play of all of my hunting, but I'm bored and it's slow on here. So if you don't want to, don't read it. LOL

I didn't hunt this morning (Friday) because I am sick. But I went to the riverbottom this evening and found an excellent place. There's a really, really thick area along the river that's about 200 yards deep by 300 yards long. Bedding area. ;) Along it's southern edge it transitions into a slightly less thicker area, but there is an incredible breakline between the two. And the trail along it indicates what I suspect; they're coming out of the bedding area, cruising that breakline, crossing the levee and into a corn field that has about 2 acres still standing.

I did see a deer this evening, but all I could see was a leg through the brush. I have NO idea what it was, other than a deer. I'm headed back to that spot in the morning, the wind will still be perfect for it. Gonna have to OD on cough syrup though. It's hard not to spook them all when you're coughing and sneezing every 5 minutes......

Wish me luck, and good luck to ya'll that are heading out this weekend.

Good luck Don. Man i dont mind hearing of your season at all, i like knowing. The place you just described sounds exactly like the places i love hunting. Im betting if you hunt this place during the rut next season you will see a ton of bucks cruising from thicket to thicket. Tell me im right next year :d good luck brotha!!

Big tip: take a pocketful of cough drops with you. For some reason, actually sucking on cough drops on stand will stifle a cough even when drinking two gallons of cough syrup right before heading out won't.

Wal-Mart sells some cherry drops in their generic version... I think they're called "Equate" or something like that. They literally DO taste like candy, and they absolutely stop my urge to cough.

Big goose egg this evening.....that damn cough is just going to drive me insane. I'll be fine for a couple hours, then all of a sudden I'll cough for 5 minutes. Cough syrup? HA! Cough drops? HA HA! I've had enough...anyway,...

Back at it in the morning. It's raining here now, light. Supposed to have light rain tonight and tomorrow morning, changing to snow in the morning sometime. MAYBE 1" accumulation, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. I'm hoping this weather will get them up and moving some.
