The only prairie beer I've seen up here was a collaboration brew with mikkeller called American style, it was delicious. They do distribute to Missouri but I think it's focused more in St Luis than in KC. I've got a niece living in Tulsa that's supposed to make a haul of prairie for me. But, I'm still waiting haha I've got a wedding in Modesto, CA in may to attend. Looks like the bruery is well distributed in the Oakland area which is where I'll be flying in to. I should be able to score some. Any particular beers you'd recommend over another from bruery? I'll also be keeping my out for anything from Russian river while I'm there. I'm not sure how available beatification is, but if I see it, I'll snag one for you.
That is odd that y'all do not get any Prairie beers. We get most of their lineup here in LA, although I have not seen Bomb! anywhere. My favorite shelf beer from The Bruery is Tart of Darkness. It is a sour stout, and is just fantastic. Beatification will be hard to find, if at all, but Consecration, Supplication, and Sanctification should be widely available from RR. Also Pliny. Enjoy your time in CA. Such a wonderful place for beer.
I thought it was strange too on the lack of prairie availability here. Geographically we're pretty close, and the craft brew scene/demand here has explodes in the last three years. Tart of darkness is officially on my radar. Hopefully I can score some. I do love me some pliny. I've thought about driving to the source while I'm there to increase my chances on finding beatification. I know it's highly sought after and am not sure if that would increase my odds or not. Either way I'm excited to make it back out there and enjoy a great beer scene once again. I'm flying a spare hard shelled bag, economy roll of bubble wrap and packing peanuts, and am flying back anything I can fit under 50 pounds. I cannot wait to post the haul!
Any of you guys ever had Odell's woodcut #7? I saw it at a smaller store yesterday that's been impressing me lately. It's labeled as a Russian imperial stout 12.5%ABV. I thought it would be a fun one to age. Only problem was the price tag at $22.99 for a bomber. It gets a 4.2 on untappd but I wanted to check here first before taking a twenty dollar bath
Hardywood aged bourbon barleywine Stone Enjoy by x4 just hit the shelves today they had about 15 cases might go back and get a case Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've got a bottle each of Arrogant Bastard Ale and Bigfoot Barleywine waiting for Friday night... Where are you guys getting these different labels for the Stone? All I've seen (and drunk) are the regular Stone (second favorite beer of all time after Iron city...just kidding) and the Oaked Stone (not so great imo). I did try Uinta's Imperial Black IPA with hemp. It was rich, but a bit sweeter than I prefer.
The beer store here carries most of the all round brews like 8 of them. The they also get the limited/special releases which is a assload. I'm drinking the go to session IPA right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great minds think alike DF! I picked this up yesterday, and am glad I did. Tastes similar to gubna in it's overwhelming "dankness"
Back to Freak of Nature for me tonight. It's so well balanced... I'll probably finish the growler tonight and that'll be the last of the Wicked Weed. Wish it wasn't 3 hrs away haha
We get Stone IPA down here, but I have only seen the one label, well two if you count the Oaked Stone IPA.
I picked up some kickin chicken barrel aged barley wine from Santa Fe brewery yesterday. Would y'all let that age? Or just drink it
I saw that but have had bad experiences with 'flavored' beer (a particularly nasty swill had blueberry's in it, gag). Is this stuff made from sassafras or just flavored?
