Ok I'm going to have to pick up some sofoe and Matilda next time at the gas station. Yea, that's right, they sell it at the local QT. I never thought to try it but after hearing about it for maybe the 50th time in this thread I must purchase.

Make sure you get ones that haven't been chilled yet so you can set a few back to age.

If I had to choose a single beer to drink for the rest of my life it would be the 120. Aged or fresh it is friggen fantastic.

They are on an end cap so aging shouldn't be a problem.

    You are killing me.

I noticed something you just said about beer that has been chilled. So, is it true that once it is chilled, it should remain chilled until it is drank. You would not want to try to age a beer that has already been chilled????

    Sorry, I'm a noob.

It's more like if you take it out of a fridge that 38 degrees and move it to your aging room that around 50 deg. It can promote unwanted bacteria or spoil it somewhat and ruin the taste esp on living yeast beers

for tonight was a complete surprise box from Portland today

Fort George Java the Hop - a coffee IPA. Crazy flavor combos but I like it. Even the wife who generally hates IPAs liked it.

also in the box was an Ale Apocathery Sahalie, which I am beyond excited about

Is 120 bottle conditioned? Normally it's not possible to bottle condition such a high ABV beer because it would kill the yeast. And once the bottle is capped, increasing the temp from fridge temps to 50 degrees isn't going to do anything detrimental to the beer taste wise. What do you think happens to beer when it is distributed across the country? It's going in and out of truck cooler and may or may not get into the cooler at the store so it's probably already made a few temp swings before it gets to your own fridge.

Now it you took a beer out of the fridge and set it out on a hot sunny day and let it warm up to 85+ degrees for awhile, that's not good.

It's not a living yeast beer. It's Bottle conditioned.

You guys are killing me. I am on a fitness kick and trying to lose 20 pounds and get in shape to run my first ever 10K in April. So.......I gave up beer during the week. (for now) I am having to live vicariously through you drunks.

I have set myself some workout goals and when I hit them I will allow myself a few "recovery" brews as incentive. Pretty sad when I have to bribe myself to get in shape.
