Well, I made it. Did not get to try a lot of different beers at El Bait Shop due to the fact that the first couple only came in bombers and I was driving. I did try the Anna by Hill Farmstead and was a little disappointed. Not sure if it was the mood I was in, the fact that it was terrible cold outside or that I am just not a huge saison fan. Don't get me wrong, it was good. Just did not leave me begging for more. I met a guy from Virginia there that was the most knowledgeable beer guy I have ever met. I shared my Anna with him since my wife did not like it and we began quite a conversation on beers. It was a lot of fun. Next up was a beer that he said I had to try and I really like it. Allagash Triple Reserve from Portland Maine. It was a homerun for sure. I guess the best part now is that I still have a lot of great recommendations to try when I go back.

On Saturday I went to a newer brewery in Des Moines that does a great job with their beer. Confluence Brewery. Their milk stout is on par with Left Hands Nitro Milk Stout. Great stuff. They also had Stone's Enjoy By 2-14-14 on tap and it is a great IPA. 9.6% I believe. A friend had recently given me a bomber of it also so I look forward to that.

Also, the guy I met from Virginia says he will bring me a case of Dogfish Head 120. He has a connection and is working in Des Moines for an extended time but is making a trip home this week. I hope he comes through for me! He has cases and cases of it that he has aged. Some of it for nearly 10 years.

I think what he is getting me is a new case, but I definitely wont complain. About $300 sound right???? Maybe he will slip in an aged bottle for fun!

I love me some allagash!!!! Great beers! My grandparents live in Portland, Maine. Not sure why I've never visited the brewery. Sounds like your trip to el bait shop was a success! Congrats on the case of 120!

I really liked it, I think I started off with it a little too cold, but as it warmed up the flavors really came out nicely. Drank it a little too quickly haha.

Hmmm trying to think back to it. I think I definitely remember some citrus fruits, especially pineapple from it. Definitely crisp and refreshing.

Wow, first sip was awesome, this beer is going to be great, aged for 3 years. DF this one was from you, right? I'm really getting some nice vanilla flavors, but not heavy at all.

Edit: I seriously love this beer haha, I'll need to pick up a few fresh ones and taste the difference in aging.

Yea, I was a big fan of Sofie. I think I need to give the Matilda another try.

^^^^great beers mentioned above! Pepe was definitely different but good. I got a lot of vanilla out of the bottle I drank as well along with some subtle smoke. Matilda and sofie are both solid as well.

Have any of you tried the "Lolita" which I believe is in this same series of beers from goose island? It's labeled as a wild ale/sour. Been trying to find some for my wife since she's a sour freak but to no avail

Grats on that 120 fletch. 300$ for a case is a good price for you. He must be giving you a case from 7/13. They haven't made anymore since the. And probably won't see any until mid summer from what I've heard. If so your in for a treat cause that was a tasty batch.

I'm turning into an omnipollo fan boy.....here's a Belgian style pale they do called Leon. Tastes right along the lines of Matilda with a crisper finish and a cloudy, almost caramel like body. Great beer IMO.
