Very smooth and heavy on the bourbon. One of the better bourbon barrel aged stouts I have had, and I'm generally not much of a whiskey barrel aged guy.

Although I mostly follow this thread and don't post much, my local liquor store FINALLY got Surly. Just wish they had Abrasive but no go this time. Tonight's a good night all the same.

I have a question for Hook and Zdeerslayer... I know hook has tried the Hop, Drop, and Roll, but I don't know if Z has. Were the cans very hoppy/citrusy that I sent to you? I've noticed quite a bit of variation in the past few 4 packs that I've bought. Ever since they've switched to canning a few months ago it seems to bit hit or miss as though they're more worried about production to keep up with demand than the overall product. It's kind of exploded on the beer scene around here and quickly moved into the top 50 IPA's on BA Most Popular Beers: American IPA | BeerAdvocate. It's kind of disappointing as it used to be my favorite IPA with a nice citrusy start and a bitter finish but now it seems to be missing something as though they're not using as many lbs of hops or something.

I found them to be quite hoppy. It's been awhile now since I had one, but I remember thinking it was a solid IPA. When did they start canning? Could some of the 4 packs just be old?

One of my favorites. Love the label. I hope you are not in a witness protection program.

Do you put any ice in it, or just neat?

Ha yea its labeled like that cause the bottle came right from the source. Got it in Dublin, Ireland at the distillery. I've had it for 8 or 9 years and don't drink it too much, actually just cracked it open for first time about a year ago.

Most of time don't put any ice in, but occasionally throw a little in. Guy over at distillery was was kinda making fun of us for sayin we put ice in whiskey, especially the more top shelf stuff. Apparently your supposed to just add a little real cold water and it'll chill it and open up the flavors ha.

I'm ashamed to say I actually haven't had any of the great divide stouts... I've heard a lot of good things about their stouts and they're readily available here but I have been in more of an IPA mood lately. I'll have to look around and see what I can find. Are any of you guys Barleywine fans? Sierra Nevada Bigfoot ale just came out this past week so if you're a fan of that style I recommend it.
