Hooker, I took the advice and your list and made my way to the nearest local beer store with decent selection. I rattled off a few of the names and said I was looking for a sour ale. The gentlemen behind the counter (mid 30's and wearing a captain America t-shirt, I should have known not to engage him) recommended to me that delerium tremens would fit the bill. I kindly nodded and smiled and headed the other way.

Before leaving I did pick up some sofie and Matilda since y'all give them such good reviews. Also picked up some hop sac which I'd never seen before and since I'm a sucker for any beer mikkeller does I grabbed his porter as it was a new one for me too.

I'm drinking the sofie now, and it's excellent!

They also had a pepe Nero and something Jacques which were near the sofie and Matilda. Are either of those good beers?

Also, I hear a lot about southern tier from you guys. Are any of these three pictured worth a try? The names are compass, iniquity, and back burner

Sofie is one of my favorites.

Pepe Nero and Jacques are both good, but not great beers, IMO.

    Never had any of those.

The quest to find La Folie continues, however, on the upside the wife and I pulled in another decent haul this afternoon while looking. We got founders breakfast stout, pumpking, and hop czar.

Good deal. I just drank my last one a week ago. Sad day indeed. Just had a friend score me some Avery brews for my birthday. I drank the Reverend last night. If you have never had it and can get your hands on it, I would be interested to see what you think. I put it in a class right up there with ZD. But, I am a newb.

The alchemist brewery is only a little over 2 hours from where I'm originally from back in NH. Trying to convince the wife to take a road trip with me while we're up there over thanksgiving. It looks like the brewery is closed to the public tho? Anyone know if they have retail on location? From every review I've read it seems like the trip would be worth it for some heady topper

They're awesome mixed together. Bell's actually has a beer called Black Note that is hard to get that is a mix between those two but aged in bourbon barrels.

Went to D.C yesterday to go see Rob Zombie in concert. Quite simply one of the best show's i have ever seen. I've seen him about a half dozen times and this show was by far the best. We went to bier baron before the show to grab some grub and drink some brew.

I'm not sure if they sell out of the brewery, but most of their vendors are small co-ops and mom and pop shops around VT that limit 2 4-packs per person. Their website shows where they deliver based on the day of the week, and from my understanding they sell out pretty quickly.

Thanks for the information! I may try to research some local vendors and lock down a 4 pack while up here. I'll keep y'all updated on my quest
