Wish I could have sent you 2 so that you could have aged one. It just gets better. But I could only get 4 bottles. I'll drink one this year, age 1 for next year, and then age another 5 years for a 5 year vertical tasting.

How do you like that one Brandon? I tried it and was a little disappointed. It was the first pumpkin beer I tried and I think I was expecting it to taste like pumpkin pie! lol

    I should try it again...

I actually kinda like it. It's a little sweeter than a lot of the other pumpkin beers but if I had to choose my favorite pumpkin beer I'd say it would be between the Southern Tier Warlock which kinda has the Pumking taste but isn't as sweet with it being a stout or the pumpkinator that Hooker sent me which is also a stout.

To clarify pumpkin beers for all you beer drinkers, they do not have pumpkin flavor... the 'pumpkin' aspect comes from the nutmeg, cinnamon etc. that they are brewed with. Sure you can brew actual pumpkin filling in the mash, but it really has minimal impact on the flavor profile.

End rant... just a pet peeve of mine when ppl say they don't 'taste the pumpkin'.

Well...to be fair, not all pumpkin beers are all spice. The Pumpkinator that Brandon was drinking is probably my favorite pumpkin beer because it is not all spice, and actually has a nice pumpkin flavor. And if you age it, the pumpkin will really shine through as the spice mellows with age.

Agreed, there are one off beers that don't focus on the spices, however I'd say 95% focus on ginger, clove, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Also, I know you guys just got done on a trade, but once everyones polished off those beers, let me know if theres any interest in doing another. Two local brewerys just placed on the Great American Beer Festival, I could send out some of their stuff.

I would be definitely interested, but will need to wait a while.

While I was boxing up Brandon's box, my wife saw it and simply stated "Again..?" with a look of disgust

I picked up a 4 pack of matilda friday along with a 4 of brooklyns black chocolate stout and the victory hop devil

Matilda was good. Needs some age on it. Will be putting them in the cave for some aging
Victory hop devil i was not impressed with it. it was ok.. BA score of 91? should be in the mid 80's IMO
    Havent had the BCS yet

Can he even get enough to fill his own thirsts? From what I've heard it's just about as hard to find as ZD. ZD sells out in a day and you never know when exactly they'll have it back in stock for carryout at the brew pub. I'm going up there over Christmas and hopefully it just happens to be a day they have it back in stock. I'd like to find some west coast contacts that could ship Russian River, and a person in VT to get Heady and Hill Farmstead.

This got me thinking... I'm working on a CA contact right now. There's a girl I know that used to live in IL that now lives in Chico, CA that I just messaged to see if it'd be a possibility. Chico is in the distribution area but 3.5 hrs from the brewery so I don't know what my chances would be of getting any Pliny but possibly some of their other stuff.
