Photo credit to my wife. She is killing me with Pinterest and Instagram. She keeps finding things there that I then have to make for our new home. The wall hanging in the background is just one of many such projects. But, I still get it whenever she wants it.

Beer has come a long way in the last 5-10 years, however I been feeling sappy and nostalgic lately. Maybe it's because of my 40th birthday or something but I been thinking about beers from back in the day when there really wasn't the quality and choices we have today.
For example some plan old dry Irish stouts like Murphy's and Guinness, hitting a bar with them on tap was the **** compared to the typical watered down tap swill everyone had.

So here is a throw back beer. Shortness Stout from the Peoples Pint. It's a dry Irish stout, great mouth feel and holds up in the glass with a good head. It's as nice a stout as you can ask for, albeit no where near the complexity of today's stouts, non the less it's perfect.

Was able to pick up a KBS today. Unfortunately it was a single bottle limit. Might go back tomorrow and see if there's still some left.

I was able to pick up one also. They were down to 6 bottles left.

Well I finally finished off the last beer I got from Tom. After drinking them I have come to realize I'm not a huge IPA fan. They were decent but not my favorite. The list goes from the one I liked most on down.

    1. Surly Bender
    2. Two Hearted
    3. Yummy
    4. Surly Overrated
    5. Surly Furious

My wife sent me out to get her a bottle of wine and I was able to pick up the last 4 pack of Founders KBS. I have an extra bottle if someone wants to make a trade send me a message.

This was fantastic. Nice acidity with mild fruit.

This was fantastic. In fact, I think it might be one of the better beers I have ever had. Holds a head forever and is great from start to finish.

Blakkr is a fantastic black IPA, although I did think that the Real Ale release of it was better than the Surly release. Surly IPAs are generally a tad too sweet for me. I still enjoyed it though.

I don't get why the micro brews have gone to selling their product in cans, go thru all the effort to make a product with complex and subtle flavors then throw it in an aluminum can so the flavor can be compromised.

I don't think it has any effects on the taste from what I've had out of cans... It moreso helps to protect from light.

The beer never touches aluminum. Technology now provides for a liner in the cans. Cans don't allow light, and they seal perfectly whereas bottles never seal as well. So, the beer stays much better in the lined cans.

Sorry I thought only keystone light was touting the lined cans.

Did some day sipping with a buddy who's caught up hard in the trading game right now. I've never seen more whales in one place than he's got in his cellar. ANTEAD with all the variants, BCBC rare x3, bcbs vanilla rue, hanu vertical 2013-2015, JK funk metal, all of the hfs releases for the last 3 years...it's absurd! I was lucky to enjoy these.

Dinner from MBC was worth the hype. But as an everyday drinker is choose lunch 9/10.

Tired hands Is new on my radar, alien church was one of the best IPAs I've had! Freedom from the known was an incredible representation of a sour ale aged on sweet and tart cherries in oak. Usually these have a junky fake cherry taste to me, this was excellent. The color blew my mind.

Lastly Westbrook gose, probably the best gose I've had. I could drink 6 of these during a BBQ no problem. So refreshing, tart, and delicious. I've got a bottle of Mexican cake from these guys I can't wait to crack into.

Cut me some slack I had to go shopping for a walker the other day, not for me but close enough to have me worried. Come to think of it I should have a beer to celebrate being healthy.
