So I was lucky enough to get to my store at the start of the goose island migration week tasting series. I locked down some goodies and sampled some goodies too! I was hoping to see all of the bourbon county alternates there like vanilla and barley wine but only the coffee rendition was available. I scored a 4 pack of 2013 BC coffee, a 2013 halia, and sampled an imperial stout called muddy which was great and a red IPA called rambler which was also good. I usually don't like anything "red" but this thing is outrageously hopped and I enjoyed it. The pair that put on the tasting said that they use 800 pounds of American hoops during the 15 BBL boil and dry hop twice with an additional 200 pounds each time. It was wonderful in the aroma department.

We also scored two free pint glasses and my wife and I each got a shirt. Then I saw a fresh shelf full of prairie hop, so I grabbed two bottles of it too. Good day to be a beer nerd

I won't lie... I'm a little jealous of the BCBCS. I've only had the original and barleywine. I'd really like to try their variants sometime but it's about impossible to get any around here with having a job lol. I'd try trading for them too but a lot of the times they demand a lot more beer than what you receive and I have a hard time doing that haha.

It's a pretty awesome beer! Very syrupy, lots of coffee, lots of booze. The lady leading the tasting said the 2013 vintage which is what I got was actually made sometime in 2011 and spent 18 subsequent months in bourbon barrels.

I've got 4, my wife doesn't like it (she's a sour head), so I'll keep 1 to age for myself. Hooker has his name on one. That leaves two unspoken for....

Allegedly my shop gets a good stash of the variants in on Black Friday. I really want the vanilla and the barleywine. I was hoping to encounter those today but they didn't have any.

Oly you got close, but they're now all spoken for. It's a fairly rare beer so folks jumped on it quickly

No biggie, thought I'd try and snag it if it was available. I'm sure it will be better appreciated by some of the snobs here lol

It's a goody for sure DFH! We didn't get the September batch here. For 7$ a bomber it's a tough DIPA to beat

Nice brews Brandon! I wanna try ten fidy so bad but 15$ for a 4 pack seems steep. Is it worth it?

For the sour lovers out there this is a great Flanders red aged in barrels. Ranger creek brewery small batch No. 6: I picked it up for helping a buddy from Houston on his deer lease here in Kansas last month. I'd liken it to a combination between supplication from Russian river and la roja from jolly pumpkin. It wasn't overly tart but had some nice depth of flavor on account of the barrel aging. Hooker I think you'd dig this one.

Ten Fidy is a really good beer. Nice and chocolatey with a good roasted flavor. I can see where it could be considered a little pricey with not being barrel-aged but if I take a step back and look at some of the prices I pay for bombers with less volume than a 4-pack then it doesn't seem as bad. I semi-regulary buy 500mL bottles of WW for 14-15$ but they're also barrel aged. Ten Fidy isn't something that I buy often and when I do it usually lasts me quite a while because I break it up. I just finished the pack I bought year with the one I had the other day.
