Bells two hearted tallboys!!! So glad these made it to KC

    Petrus aged pale ale

So far, I've drank a two hearted, awesome, thanks for the recommendation dogfish!

Devil dancer. This was a 20$ 4 pack and way over rated IMO. Advertised at 112 IBU and 12% ABV. It's your typical huge malt bill high ABV pale. Hops are on the back burner in this one. It's not my preferred style. But, evidently it's sought after so I grabbed some. It reminded me so much of evil twin Molotov cocktail

Petrus aged pale. I've had this on tap in the past at flying saucer, I've gotta say it's even better out of the bottle. Huge white wine/ champagne tartness and dryness. Subtle oak mid-pallet. This is one of my go to sours because it seems to be readily available in KC.

I freaking love the Stone Enjoy By. A Des Moines brewery had it on guest tap and I made several special trips up there until they ran out. So amazing from the tap.

My local shop has quite a few bottle of the La Folie and he told me I had to give it a try. Neither my wife nor I cared for it. I guess we just don't have a taste for the sours yet.

I bet an enjoy by on tap is amazing!

The la folie is a weird beer. I love it now, but initially it was the first sour beer I've ever tried. At that time, there was way too much of a pucker factor and I disliked it thoroughly. However, my wife absolutely loved it and only wanted sour beers after that. So, by association I gradually earned a pallet for the sours! There's a lot of depth in la folie for a beginner sour. You may work your way up to it with something like a petrus aged pale, and a lot of the prairie farmhouse beers offering wild yeast fermentation. They are much more subtle on the pucker! I was very anti sour a year ago, today it's one of my favorite styles! So don't give up, keep sipping friend!

Well I hit the jackpot today! A friend of mine has been working in North Carolina for the last three months and brought some goodies when my wife and I met her for dinner this evening!

Cedric pale and brown ale. Evidently these come from a brewery on site at the biltmore mansion.

The next is from old hickory brewery and it's called event horizon. It's a bourbon barrel stout incorporating 10 different malts, 4 different hops, and aged with local honey in the bourbon barrels. It sounds excellent! The bottle is nicely adorned with a wax seal and year stamped into the wax. This is a 2013 bottle. My friend (who is not a beer nerd) asked the store clerk for a good local beer and this is what he chose. According to untappd it scores a 4.2 and I'm thinking it's gonna be pretty good. So I'm curious to see how it turns out. Brandon have you ever tried anything from old hickory?

Lastly, and what I'd consider the grand finale of the whole deal is wicked weed x3!!!! Since she's not a beer nerd, I dropped hints to her to pick these up for me. Oblivion, serenity, and genesis. I've had the genesis (thanks Brandon) and it's amazing! I'm excited to try these other two.

I have had some Olde Hickory brews. I had Event Horizon and it was pretty good. It's pretty easily obtainable when it's released so let me know if you like it and I can get you some. The stores in my area are sold out of it. My favorite beer from Olde Hickory is probably a raspberry stout called Lindley Park but they also make a couple decent seasonal IPA's as well. I haven't tried the Oblivion yet but have a couple bottles stowed away so I'll probably have one here in the next couple weeks.

I picked this one up at a local store. It has a good smell and taste, sweet and malty like a typical doppelbock.

I'm brewing up a clone of some blind pig IPA today. Never had it so I won't know if it's cloned but should be a good recipe nonetheless.

Flameout hops. 1/2 each of cascade centennial Amarillo and simcoe.

    Boiling away.

    Fermenting with 1056.

I'll let you guys know how it tastes in a month or so.

Got a nice lil shipment from a buddy of mine in massachusettes. I cannot wait to try the flower power from Ithaca and the be hoppy from wormtown. The jacks abbey beers are also supposed to be getting a lot of attention in the northeast. Very pumped about this haul!
