I got a lot more bourbon and chocolate as it warmed. Love that beer!

    Pumped for tonight guys

Our local brewery is having a beer dinner at an awesome restaurant (2 hours away) and the owners of the brewery invited me and the wife to ride with them in their limo to the dinner. Going to be an awesome time.

Here is the menu for tonight:

Grilled watermelon, radish, petite mustards, lime, pink pepper
Make Believer – A delicate hoppy session ale with loads of Citra and Galaxy hops. 4.5% ABV

Ipswich scallop, turnip, vanilla, grapefruit, salsa verde
Commotion – This pale ale has a slightly fruity aroma, with an upfront hop bitterness of grapefruit and citrus. This complex but balanced dry-hopped ale is faintly sweet, but soft from the generous amounts of wheat.

Pecan smoked local pork belly, pickled chioggia beets, sweet potato puree, root beer syrup
Disaster Proof – A session Rye lager with generous amount of New Zealand Wakatu hops. The Rye provides a spicy backdrop for the floral Wakatu hops. 4.5% (Collaboration beer with Bluejacket)

Venison schnitzel, stewed white beans, fried carrots, bacon-beer mustard jus
Nobody’s Darlin – A bigger version of the German Schwarzbier at 7% ABV. Rich dark malts and
dark Midnight Wheat makes for a dangerously drinkable and smooth lager. (Collaboration beer with Bluejacket)

Braised rabbit, english peas, gnocchi, smoked mushrooms, parmesan
Southern Drawl – A hop forward lager with complex, citrusy aromas derived from German hops and wheat phenols. We use our house German lager strain to provide a fresh backdrop for this perfect

    Local strawberry three ways
Reasonably Corrupt – A black lager with dark and roasty malt sweetness. Don’t let the darkness fool you – this is a sweeter, fuller-bodied version of the premium lager you know and love. It has a smooth, crisp finish, with depth of color and taste.

Hooker, I'm delayed indefinitely at the airport, my haul of pliny may no longer happen, I've cracked my first beer at 8 am for the first time in a long time, and if southwest were a man, I'd physically punch him, POW right in the kissahhhh!

That being said, all I can think about is how much I want some venison schnitzel with a bacon-beer mustard jus! Sounds like an incredible night of beer nerding! Cheers friend!

You get the Pliny...........or your dead to me.

Just kidding. You have a few brews that I would trade for. I hope your trip improves soon and look forward to meeting you at some point when you get back.

Hooker, I thought the same thing about the venison dish. How was it? Sounds amazing. What a perfect night, good food, good beer, and done in style. nice

Haha!!! Dave I'll do my best on the pliny! The bottle shop is 15 minutes from the airport on my way out of Oakland so I'm definitely stopping. Hopefully they'll have some bottles left when and if I land today.

Well there's a plane finally here to get us to Denver, but since we missed our connection to Oakland with the delay, there's a chance I may not get out of Denver today.....if that's the case crooked stave here I come!!!!

The entire building that the Crooked Stave taproom is located in is awesome. It's called The Source, and I could spend all day in there. Lots of "artisan" shops.

Oh and Denver does get Russian River. I would go to Mr. Bs and check with them if you are worried about not getting to Oakland.

If you could make it to the Boulder area, hit Upslope, Avery, Left Hand, and Oskar Blues, or Fate. Any and all would be good stops. Great food at Fate. Great beer at ALL.

My new local brewery, Great Raft Brewing, just made Bon Appetit's list of 10 new breweries to keep watch for 2014. Glad to see our little brewery getting national recognition.

I see that Strangeways made the list. I wish they would open early an stay open later. I never make it there.

Blame southwest for my lack of pliny....the shop sold out between 11:00 and 1:30 today. I didn't land until 2:30. I did sample some goodies today tho.

I had my flight delayed yesterday as well Jeff. It was only for an hour but still sucked. I usually have pretty good luck with southwest too...

I've been absent here for a while due to training for an elk hunt but I did crack into some flower power last night and then had a pork slap for the first time...it was just ok....real bready tasting

Hook, I have to ask, how the heck did you guys get your hands on a 3-Floyds Dark Lord? Who got to go? My wife tried to get us tickets to the dark lord festival this year and they were sold out in minutes. Once there, you then enter a lottery to have a chance to buy some aged and special varieties of dark lord beer also. So.....was it amazing? Also, how was that venison dish?

They told us at 3-Floyds the other day that if they catch you selling the Dark Lord on the secondary market, you are forever banned! lol
