Wednesday (Thursday) Chat - Other Hobbies... I know I am new here, but figured it was worth a shot to start a little cap chat. I guess this week I'll ask about other hobbies, besides hunting. I have a bunch. I would love to say I spend time equally with them all, but I don't. My husband races dirt track - so from May - August we are at a race track on the weekends. I also have a pulling tractor that I pull, though this year will probably just be at the fairs. I'm also in the volunteer fire department (FF/EMR), on borough council, and have horses. Plenty to keep me busy! What about you all? What are your hobbies outside of hunting?
Fishin - mainly fly unless there is a specific species I'm targeting that requires a particular technique, gardening, mushroom hunting - is that still hunting?
White tails are it for me! I gave up everything else is I could focus on becoming a better hunter and buy my hunting land (bought two years ago) and make a yearly rut hunt in western Illinois! To me the offseason is crazy with prep work, and the season is the relax and enjoy time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Running trail cameras & I'm getting back into photography/videography. I don't have a whole lot of time outside of that.
Neat to see another female here. Between work(my husband) and school(me) and our family responsibilities, we don't have much time for other hobbies. My husband does reload, and we can usually find time to do some fishing. We spend a lot of time in the woods, scouting and just exploring and seeing the plants and wildlife. Tried to get the girls involved in the recreational league sports activities, soccer and T-ball, but being much smaller than the other kids in their age groups, they got discouraged. It was the same for me, so I understand. (The girls are six and four.) We have watched the tractor pulling at the county fair - also the horse pulling. It's a lot of fun to watch. Evenings we will sometimes go out to a local bar where my husband will have a couple beers, and maybe shoot a little pool. Sometimes we'll eat there. He knows I love pizza. If it's a band night, the girls will "dance" with daddy. So mostly, the four of us just hang out together. That's our life. They are very unexciting people
Sachiko - that is what family is about. Hanging out together and enjoying others company! Sounds like a perfect time. Swamp - That is how my husband is. Having our own land now, I'm sure we will be busy preparing, too. I can't wait to shed hunt this winter! Fitz - I enjoy photography, too. What type of photography you getting back into? I do a lot of nature/wildlife. I have been asked to do a few weddings but I'm not confident enough to do it! Iowa Veteran - Congrats on your third book! I can only imagine how hard of a process it must be to get one published!
in order: Hunting. Jeeping. Camping. Mountain biking. Hiking. Drinking beer. I try to combine them as much as possible (keeping the beer for afterwards, that is.) I do like to play tennis a lot, just don't get to nearly as much as I would like. About the only sport I can still play at a somewhat competitive level and a) not embarrass myself and b) not hurt myself.
LOL. Just got that. Didn't realize it was TH until I heard the garbage truck out front and had to run to get the cans out in time.
Mostly nature photography. I'm going to ease my way into some videography. I'd love to do some promotional work for the area I live. There's one guy up here doing video, but it's not that good at all. Both will complement my side-job as a graphic designer.
Oh definately! Videography in getting to be quite the thing at big events anymore. The prices people pay is crazy! But also good for the one making it. If you combine those things you can do - bet you could do commercials and pamphlets promoting the area. Good luck!
