12 below now and probably won't make it above zero today. Cold I can handle but the wind just sucks with the cold. 10 - 20 mph and it is seems to be spending most of the time at 20. It is snowing also. Like we need more of the white stuff.

Sure glad I have today off. Why couldn't it have been yesterday when it was just cold and still out.

I am getting sick of sitting in the house. The deer will be in the sheltered areas trying to get out of the wind. I really wanted to check some of those spots out today but don't want to bother the deer.

    Geeze this weather sucks !!!!

Definitly agree with ya Tim. It isnt that cold here, but like you said, when you add in the wind, it just plain sucks. It always seems like when we have the spare time to go out walking this time of year, mother nature just doesnt want us out there. Best of luck to you if decide to try it out.

-31 here, better than the -41 they said it was going to be! Looks like we'll be in for most of the day too.

I'm hoping this helps with the slush on the lake :tu:

With all the snow on the ice/slush... there will be a few sloughs we won't be able to cross to get into some spots for shedding. It just isn't safe. This has been the weirdest winter. Very cold yet the ice is very poor.

We missed out on the real cold. Grand Forks and Fargo got it and we were 10 degrees warmer. Been like that all winter. Normally we are 10 degrees colder then them.

We have a nice, toasty shop at the farm to work in when it is this cold. :whip: :D The farm is pretty well protected from the wind so working outside isn't bad if it is above zero.

Was planning on getting out today also, but I guess I will just sit home and study the plat book and get some more land to walk on!

How in the heck do you guys keep pipes from freezing at those temps? We have problems when we get 2 or 3 below zero. Our windchill is -12, air temp is around 9 today, bad enough for me! LOL

Sorry Timmy, I cannot imagine temps that cold. We get down to zero here (ambient air temp not wind chills) and very rarely below zero and I think that is frigid cold.

Hope it warms up for you gents...

It got to -20 here in Southwestern Wisconsin and that wasn't with the wind chill.

Our water lines are buried to a minimum of 8 feet underground. You make sure no pipes are exposed to temps below 32 degrees. We've had a lot of practice thawing out and replacing water pipes over the years. :D

Heck, when it's in the teens, here, I care not to be outside...wind or no wind. I can handle the cold, but, I care not too....
