I hate to see stories like that. It only takes a second to hook up a safety line. Thanks for the reminder.

Such an inexpensive device could of prevented such a tragidy. Dont understand why so many continue to go without.

Another sad note are the comments below the article. Many happy that "bambi" won this round...or jesting about how he wasn't hunting he was just re-filling his deer feeder for hunting season...

I bought my first harness last week and i'm sure glad I had it saturday. I was hanging a new set and almost fell off the ladder. If I didn't have my harness and linemans belt attached I would have fallen 18ft into some nasty stuff.

Yesterday morning in the rain (wet boots/wet steps) I slipped off my top step while stepping onto the platform. I caught myself with one hand on the platform and was hanging there 20ft up. Sore as hell today. I had on my harness but wasn't yet attached to the tree. Must've pulled every muscle in my right side. Last night I ordered lifelines and had them overnighted. From now on I will be attached all the way up. Gave me a good scare, took me quite awhile to settle down once I got back into the stand. Scary stuff, only takes a split second for things to go wrong

Where did you find the best deal? I have been thinking about getting a lifeline for every stand, but damn that's gonna be expensive!

I was thinking about picking some up myself. From what I have seen, the best way to go for multiple stands is the 3-pack from HSS. Retail is 100 and ****'s has the 3-pack. I have also seen as low as 90 from online hunting websites but typically cant get free shipping there. You will pay approximately 33 each instead of 40.

I posted on here last year after it happened to me, but I fell about 18-20 feet last October. I stepped onto the top of my ladder sticks and was unhooking my harness from the rope style tree attachment (not lifeline) when the branch I was holding onto broke just as I was unhooked. Before I could do anything I was laying on the ground trying to catch my breath and wondering if I would be able to get up. Thankfully I was able to climb into my stand opening morning this year.... while attached to my lifeline.

And Cole I know they are an expensive up front cost, but I would certainly trade that cost for my hospital bills from my fall. They really are an inexpensive product when put into perspective.

Sorry to "preach", but I learned the hard way last year and I wouldn't want anyone or their families to experience it firsthand.

Yep Cole frankly I didn't even bother to shop around, just ordered a 3 pack. That isn't enough for all my stands but should cover any I want to hunt in a given period. If I decide to hunt a different area I will just move some lines I suppose

That 3 pack is definetly the way to go. I picked up 6 lifelines this year.

I have life lines attached to every stand that I have. Well worth every penny spent to do that knowing what could happen if I didn't. Safety harness for sure but also include the life lines guys. Not only will it give you peace of mind but your family will appreciate it as well.

The way I look at it, I'm going to have to buy like 12 to actually cover everything. If I have to move lifelines to hunt a different spot, then it kind of defeats the purpose of having a lifeline if I'm not connected until I get onto the stand the first time after moving the lifeline. I'd have to spend $400 +/- to cover everything. Thats a lot of money for my broke a**
