This is just a reminder! An Indiana man was found dead at the base of his tree in Daviess county on the 29th by his own father. The article i read said that it was only a 12' fall. Just goes to show it doesn't matter how high up you are strap in.

Agreed, and to not wear a harness due to being cool, feeling uncomfortable anything is just plain stupid. Never spoke to one guy who fell that actually planned on it.

A friend of mines coworker fell out of his treestand, landed on an old stump. They found him 2 days later. Broken spine, pelvis, and leg. He had no harness on, now he resides in a wheelchair full time. Wear that harness, you never know what could happen.

Here in northern IL just one hospital (St Anthony's in Rockford) has had 3 people admitted the past 10 days with various injuries sustained from falls from treestands. I worked with a guy at another hospital last week who fell while climbing down the ladder of his stand. He only fell around 6-7' but shattered his patella (knee cap) into 4 pieces and his tibia/fibula (lower leg bones) into 6 pieces. Be careful everyone!!! Use those lineman's ropes and safety harnesses.

Well I'm just glad to hear that it's the same guy, kind of. Glad there aren't two of them.

    It happened to me.

I was bow hunting in south west area of Virginia, late '80's and was afternoon hunting about 15 ft up. I was tired and my bow was hung up next to me as I relaxed in the warm setting sun. Next thing I know is I'm looking straight down with my arms out. Then - the stop, and I'm up against the tree- right side up. Saved by the harness. Crawled back into the stand, and didn't see a deer that evening. But that didn't bother me as I walked out instead of being carried out. Needless to say; no belt-no climb.
