Have been hunting the New York State Spring Turkey Season since Monday with an Amish buddy... with our archery equipment. Neither one of us have ever scored a bird with a bow - until today. Three birds walked up to our decoy spread... only 1 walked away! What a Rush!!!!!
We were in a Big Game hunting blind we purchased at Bass Pro. More than enough room for two hunters at the same time. It went up super easy and breaks down easily too. Johnathan purchased this one... I gotta' get me one so I can hunt with my nephew. I've provided the link to the product. http://www.basspro.com/Big-Game-Treestands-The-Ravage-Ground-Blind/product/261899026/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL
Thanks everyone for the accalades. You experienced guys would have probably died laughing at us during this hunt. It took the birds about an hour to visit our setup after we first saw them. Then all of a sudden they just turned and started walking toward us. All three were side-by-side just waddling through the alfalfa field... slowly but they were coming. My buddy whispered in my ear, “Shoot” when they were at about 30 yards. Then he whispered it again when they were about 20. Finally he practically screamed, “SHOOT!” at me before I finally released the arrow (at 10 yards). I guess I was so mesmerized watching them approach us that I just sat there with my bow drawn. After I shot, he shot; missed… then he restrung an arrow real fast and connected on his bird at about 20 yards. We kept telling everyone, “Three came in… one walked away.” WHAT A RUSH!!! I gave the bird to the Amish Family I was staying with in Locke, NY (except for 1 breast). We're going again this weekend... I can't wait!!!!!!!!!
