yes, but just b/c something is hard doesn't mean it's not fun....for example, if you killed a deer every time you hunted, how fun would that be after a while...wouldn't want to have some hardships? I would, I do. I like just trying to figure deer out, it can be very hard and that makes it rewarding....Im not just talking about big bucks, just deer in general...they all can throw a wrench in your machine, but I like that. Hard doesn't mean unenjoyable, in fact, I think that's what makes it enjoyable.

Everyone is different. Many hunters who have great places to hunt become complacent and don't "hunt hard" or "scout hard" or whatever. And guess what....I don't care. Many guys who hunt public land don't "hunt hard" or "scout hard". Some people at my work are lazy as hell. Some are not. Some cops are dirty, some are not. Some people who film their hunts scout and hunt their arses off...others don't have to if they hunt the right spots at the right time and pay outfitters money to pre-scout, etc. So I don't believe one can really have a gauge on "celebrity" hunters based on what they see on their videos. Again, I acknowledge their abilities as hunters, they probably wouldn't be on TV if they were not great hunters...and I also said that I understand why they don't or can't put the hard work in...but tell me that you hunted hard, b/c you didn't..you shot well, and made a clean kill on a nice deer that someone else did the work on to put you there...that's it. I don't not watch dvds b/c of it, it's all entertainment to me...but it is what it is, they shouldn't feel the need to put that in there..." we hunted so hard for this" when you didn't.

I bet the tv guys use flagging tape every 5 ft to find their stands and then leave it in the woods when they are done.

Duke, I know you never said that, not saying you did. I repsect your opinion always. I like a good debate and we always have a clean one bud!

Best post on here. I had a very tough season this past year, maybe because I didn't "put in the work", but every second was fun, even while I was getting frustrated.... and that is what really matters.

Who cares what the guys on T.V. do? It is their JOB, plain and simple. If your boss told you to get a project done, which situation would he prefer... where you have others help and get the job done quick and efficently.... or where you go at it by yourself, struggle, but at the end of the week you have it done.

I do get what your saying Landon. In my case one deer area's suck and It can make your hunting tough when It comes to choices If your picky on what you want to shoot. Most don't know what that's about unless you've hunted In Mn all your life. Years ago here the whole state here In Mn was a one tag state, now just some area's are and mine happens to be one of the usual ones for some reason.

Steve, I know Exactly what you are talking about! IL. used to be the same way. Thank Goodness those days are behind us, at least for the present.

It definitely changes the ball game!

what guys on TV do do not change my hunting at all or even effect my hunting in the least.. I just laugh when they say they "hunted hard" when a large % of them did not..again, I said hunting hard is all relative to that person..Maybe Stan potts considers what he does at an outfitter hard....I don't consider that hard, unless he put in the leg work and the thought and the know how to kill the deer...

I agree with what you are saying. Success is always at the forefront of my hunts. Being unsuccessful never makes my hunts become "hard work". I have hunted quite a bit this season. Not as much as last season due to other irons in the fire. Regardless, I sweated in July, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, and even a few days in Dec. Hung stands, climbed trees, scouted, hung more stands, and still, still (so far) have only seen 9 deer all season. (1 of those being the spike I killed for a doe) I have hunted "hard", but this hardness I speak of is in the doing of it all, not the success/non-success. Hope that makes sense.

By the way, I still have 11 days of my season left. I will be done at 6:45 Jan 31

good luck Bobby, it makes sense to me..as a bowhunter you are growing my friend. you are hunting hard if you are doing all those things, and it will pay off.

I agree with you completely, while I do enjoy watching hunting shows I always have to thought in the back of my head of how unreal the conditions they are hunting in are. I'd say 50 percent of Verus hunting shows for deer are filmed on the nooner ranch in TX which any deer taken over 200 inches is $18,000.00! plus $40.00 per inch over 200. While 200 inches is unreal come on give a poor guy a break we hunted hard and really had to pull out all the stops to take this deer that the ranch has 1000000000 pictures of and they even know where he like to crap the most. While there are some shows that aren't all that bad in that aspect. I'd love to see a show filmed only on public land in season now I'd love to see that
