Obama is really good at appealing to people by manipulating crisis against peoples emotions. He is going to get support for Gun Control the same way he got the "Affordable Healthcare Act" passed.....campaigning to the American people with his rhetoric. The only way to combat this other than the presence of the NRA in the US legislature is appealing to the public the same way Obama is only to do it with facts. One problem we have is that even within the realms of gun owners there is division on the issue. There are hunters being pursuaded on the matter because he is appealing to them by promising not to take away Americas hunting traditions. There is a lot more at stake here than loosing our tradition, and much more important things than even our recreational enjoyment. It is important that all hunters and gun owners unite on this issue. One thing that has been lacking from our side is appealing to the public concern about gun violence. Most interviews I have seen in recent of supporters of the 2nd Amendment seem dismissive or indifferent to the horrific events. I as well as all of you (I'M SURE) were deeply disturbed by what happened in Connecticut and in Colorado this year. Instead of simply coming back with responses like you can never stop those insane killers, we as hunters and legal responsible american gun owners should be the strongest supporters of doing something to prevent these tragedies, and gun legislation will not do it. Gun owners need to be giving people facts about crime and it's association to areas with strict and lax gun control laws. But more than that we should be making alternative proposals. A Fox News poll showed that 90% OF GUN OWNERS are in favor of more detailed registration processes, and 86% said they were not against the banning of high capacity magazines. Ladies and Gentlemen I am not a conspiracy guy, but historical data supporting the first step in disarmament of the people by the governemnt of civil societies (Britain and Australia) is strict requirement on registration. From that point they know where all the guns are and where to go to get them. Gun legislation will not prevent tragedy. Australia has experienced higher gun related crime and an increase in rape by armed assault in the first year institued was up 1000% literally. The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is to have a good guy with a gun period. There are many other things that can be done that would do more to eliminate violent crime than additional gun control legisislation which is 9000 laws strong and not being enforced.
