Honorable husband was out mowing the lawn today and called me out to see another Faerie Ring in the grass. That's a ring of mushrooms, (toadstools actually,) in the grass seeded by the faeries where they hold a dance to welcome the Spring. (The faeries are very small.) It was old so must have been from before the heavy rains we've had.

The neat thing is that it means that the faeries have blessed your property with good fortune for the coming year because you have given them a place to dance. It's very cool.

It's good for us sheep too because it means nice rich, tasty grass

So let me get this right..... if you have a fungus growing all over your lawn it's a good thing???? Well heck, I'm golden. I got fungus growing in my toes, lawn and bathroom. Life is good.

This has got to be some Japanese tradition thing. The only thing I know of that faeries are good for is flying around with a magic wand and spinkling funny dust on people.

Are you on drugs? That's a serious question. If not.... you should consider some. The sky seems to be a different color in your world.

I think some of you are jealous because you don't have faeries doing their Welcome to Spring dance on your lawn. But then you might. Go out and look for a ring of toadstools about 3-5 feet in diameter. It helps if you let your grass get a little high because the faeries don't like to be seen. It's not a Japanese thing. The faeries came over here from Europe.

    :sheep:

Apparently sheep dancing on your lawn doesn't count

    Ain't that the truth.

I don't allow fairies on my lawn, especially not any dancing fairies.

Those mushrooms could and probably are Scotch Bonnets which is the customary shroom to come up on a lawn or meadow in a fairy ring. Great eats right there. Google them DLG and see if that is what they are. If so an oriental dish with wild mushrooms would be a sure hubby pleaser.

But imagine the headlines if she feeds her hubby poisonous shrooms..... be sure they are safe first.

I have eaten the Scotch bonnets and they are good. There is one poisonous shroom that grows in fairy rings but it doesn't lookm anything like the SB's.

If I were sure of the difference, I might be willing to try them. But these are well past their prime.

    :sheep:
Very tasty grass out there though - Yum

I am jealous. Think what great practice with the old broadheads those faeries would be. I assume these faeries are different from the ones with the limp wrists????

i saw one once and shot it. i hit it with the edge of my broadhead right on it's neck. i know i know, not the best shot, i got lucky ;) .
as you can see by the pic the police got involved, and i was arrested. after some time they found there was no law against hunting faeris so i was released. :)

The faeries who dance in the faerie rings are much smaller. If you put one in a shot glass, the could just barely climb out.

    :sheep:
    That's pretty small

That could be risky. You could be courting some bad luck.

    :sheep:
Yeah, you never know when you might step in something bad
