From what I have read and heard those numbers are not even possible.

Those numbers are staggering. That would make venison questionable at a minimum. I would think recreational properties would go down in value. That's a crazy amount of infected deer if that article is true.

That's not even a realistic possibility. That's what they said about northern IL, the next thing you know, there are sharpshooters everywhere that are funded by large vehicle insurance companies...

I'd start the application process for being a "sharp shooter."

Recreational properties are not big in that part of the state. Most are farm properties.

Tom do you have a link about what you have read?

I do not have a link but the DNR has pushed crazy numbers about CWD for years. They are using it as an excuse to wipe out as many deer as possible. From what I have read only 3% of deer can get CWD and that is worst case scenario. When one deer was found to have CWD in MN they figured there was 2000 deer in the area. They killed over 1000 deer and tested each deer and even though they did not find any more CWD they just kept on killing them.

They are still doing the sharp shooting in Northern Illinois. The main area I hunt the numbers have been down the last couple years but started to come back this year. Come to find out they were just across the road from where I hunt taking out more deer.

Sounds about right for the DNR.....I wonder what their real purpose is.
