Whether it's watering your food plots, crops, or garden, it's all share one theme... they all need water. I've learned you can't get water on leaves in the morning as the drops will magnify the sun and burn the plant. Your plants however can be cooled off by spraying the leaves in the evening. This much I know. What I try to do is water the base of plants in the morning and the leaves after the sun goes down. Sounds good right?

I heard a tip that puts me in a bind. The idea is you shouldn't water at night. You should only water in the morning. The reasoning is if your soil remains moist throughout the night for several days it can promote mold and fungi. What is the validity of this statment? Does anyone know?

I have some experience with sprinkler systems and they recommend watering in the morning because of the reason you mentioned. I would hope that any food plot plant should be hardy enough to grow like wildfire no matter whne you watered it. You could contact the seed manufacturer if you want to get a professional opinion.
