kiddy pool. Make sure to put a stick or piece of rope in it for small critters to escape if they fall in.

    What is "too expensive"?
I've seen people use kiddie pools as a cheap liner for a hand dug hole. If you have good clay soil and a water shed area, a hand dug hole will work.

Ha, Jeepwillys beat me to it.

Todd just made one on BHOD...check out what he did. You could easily use a kiddie pool instead of the liner he used.

Make sure this is legal in your state first.

Kiddy pools have not been great for my brother. The deer like to get in the pool to drink and they crack the bottom enough to drain the pool. The pools are very thin, maybe if you double them up...Just my .02 cents

I use an 8 gallon bucket out by the feeder, the deer drink right out of it. I only provide water if it is very dry in my area, there are ponds all around me.

I've heard and saw people using left over piece of rubber roofing. Simply dig a hole not bigger than the size of roofing material lay it down cover the edges with dirt or rocks and fill with water. should be able to do it for under fifty bucks.

We use the black poly ponds from the local Menards/ home depot. 50-100 bucks this time of year and gives you a 150gals plus water and layers so animals can get out. Plenty thick so the deer wont hurt it and it's black so it is not an eye sore when sitting in the stand. Just my thought.

A friend of mine told me that he puts a sheet of treated plywood down under the kiddie pool to prevent this from happening. Sounded like a good idea to me.
