Finally picked my gun up! I'm excited to finally get out and shoot it this weekend. Benelli Supernova Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks. Now it's the waiting game until I get home tomorrow to shoot it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Last weekend we went to F&S and they had a sale...I went back today and still having it. Got some Drake hunting clothes for 50% off...just passing along
I picked up 64 decoys yesterday for $80, that's $1.25 a decoy! Most of them I'll paint into divers and that will put me way over my goal of having 200 diver decoys for this season.
Also picked up some decoys over the weekend. I run all Dakota xfd lesser but couldn't pass up the deal. Got a dozen GHG hot buy shells, dozen G&H shells and half dozen bigfoot full bodies for under $200. Will be good fillers or will try to sell/trade them off.
Benelli Nova with a Kicks High Flyer choke tube. Hevi-Metal 3" #3's. I haven't done much in the way of preparation. My decoys are fine and my kayak is ready to roll. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Will be doing some scouting from the road, but do you guys use trail cams for scouting waterfowl? Practical?
Their patterns change day to day and even morning to night so I don't see it benefitting you much besides some sweet pictures. Plat book, good binoculars and good company and scouting for waterfowl is one of my favorite things to do.
I have. I've done it a couple of ways, rattle can use krylon flat brown, black and kahki. Makes a good looking filler if you've got something that is in bad shape. For what you've got in those pics, I'd use outdoor laytex or acrylic and brush it on. Go to your local paint store and have them computer match the colors you want. I'd also flock the heads while I was at it. If you've never flocked decoys, this is a good way to start. Flat black oil based rustoleom, paint it on and then apply the flock using the a clean mustard bottle to the paint.
Well, I lucked out...my buddy's dad gave me 2 dozen shells and stands. I'm pretty happy considering I don't have to go out and spend all kinds of money on goose decoys for my first season.
I'll be getting out for a few weekends up here in Alaska this fall. Really hoping to go after some of the seaduck species up here like Kings, Eiders, and Harlequins.
