Do you guys have any recommendations for waders? What should I look for? Is there anything that I should really stay away from?

I have one and love it. You made a good choice. The first two pics I posted above are the ground force. The other is the invsalab blind by momarsh.

If its cold I like the 5mm thick with at least 1000 grams in the boots. Wing supply has a sale going with free shipping,I pickeded up a pair. This is what I got.

If its warm you almost have to have goretex waders. The cabelas DRI plus is hard to beat. I've got a pair that I've had for 4 or 5 years and they've been great. Not only do I hunt out of them until it gets cold but I use them all summer dog training. Best 200 bucks I've ever spent.

How is the 1000gram in the early season? I want something I can wear late season if need be. Id rather be a little warm early then wish I had more during the late season.

What is your early season? Our season starts September 1st and it can be in the mid to upper 90s then. Your feet would melt. IMO if the temps are over 70 neo waders with 1000 in the boot is to much. I wear my gore tex till the temps drop to the low 30s in the mornings.

Yeah we have the same start. I just talked to my dad and he actually bought a cheaper pair of winchester waders (to clean our pool lol) and he said I can have them, so I can probably use those during early season if need be and then get a pair for mid to late season.

Oly again, warning...it's way too much fun, and just a totally different hunt than bowhunting. Our duck hunting here sucks, so it's currently only one trip somewhere for me late season. You will love it!

Training a lab, helping build duck calls, getting ready to trim brush on river blinds.... And counting the days!

We start about the 3rd week of November. But here in NE Ar it can still be pretty warm....

That's what I use and I guarantee they will work just fine. Had mine for about 6 years now although I field hunt 95% of time.

I am 95% in the field too and mainly after geese, but will be scouting ducks this year too. We open for geese September 1st.

Here is a pic of the sire and the dame I have a deposit on. I've got 2nd pick of the females. Lots of titles in both pedigrees, I'm super excited to get this puppy! [IMG]

Not to much better in life than a family dog that can hunt. Good looking dogs.

I've got a homemade laynard with cheap poly calls but I've killed a ton of ducks and geese with them.

But I like this one better!

Only a few more months to go! Ive got a ton of new decoys I've been getting ready. The Dakota Decoys mallards look crazy real. Also been working on getting this dude ready to roll.

Thats good to know. Ive just used them for fishing lately. They aren't camo though. I don't know how much that matters.
Haha Im guessing the hunting around here is pretty good like most other stuff. Where do you go hunt?

I'm a lucky SOB when it comes to bands. The best story I've got is me and a buddy that was new to duck hunting were out and a big drake mallard just plops right in the decoys from out of no where. I stand up ready to shoot and then decide to let my buddy shoot his first mallard. I said shoot him Rob, he says no you're standing up you shoot him. We argue about who should shoot him until the duck decides he doesn't want to be shot and he jumps up....so I shoot him. The dog brings him back and.....he's double banded ,one of them a 100 dollar reward! Lucky I tell you.

Pup looks good Brandon, what is he about 6 months old now? Been working on decoys myself. I've poured about 100 5oz mushroom weights to go with all my others. Rigged up some teal and woody decoys today. I need 25 more diver decoys to hit the 200 I wanted when season starts.

My goose to duck kill ratio is probably 20:1 so I'll probably never shoot a banded duck! I've been apart of about 15 Canadian and snow band hunts already in my hunting life. Just usually don't shoot the band or don't win the random draw.
