I wasn't meaning shooting at a flock, just meant my average is not good, lol.

But thanks for that tip - it'd be awesome to be the only female and outshoot them! (Though I wont count those eggs before they hatch!)

Heckler, I can understand the frustration that may be. Especially in my area. I was told we have geese land on the pond in our back yard, but only seen a couple ducks. Not really sure what areas we could hunt around here! Thankfully Presque Isle (Lake Erie) offers blinds on first come first serve.

You'll be shooting divers then. Not my expertise at all! I'm a mallard wood duck kind of guy but prefer honkers and snows over ducks any day!

That would be at my personal pond.

The place we are going has everything - from my understanding. We are going for three days which will allow snow, canadian, and whatever ducks come in.

Any good recipes for geese? I haven't found anything that I care for. I did read it's good in bologna though.

I was basing that assumption off of your Lake Erie comment.

Goose is great! Stir fry, fajitas, poppers and crock pot are my favorites!

I'd rather waterfowl hunt than eat, sleep, or about anything else. I love it. The others are right, its very addictive. I use to spend 80-90 days a year hunting in several different states but my wife got tired of that and packed up all her stuff and left so I've toned it down the past 10 years or so:whip::rant:. Still do a ND trip every fall though. You get to play with boats, guns, lots of decoys, dogs, build blinds and kill lots of stuff, how much more fun can you ask for!
The best advice I can give is pick one bird and shoot where its gonna be not where its at because you'll hit where its been.

I have hunted waterfowl for a few years, but it really wasn't until last year before I really got into it. I have always been a deer hunter and like to think that I always will be, but as many laughs, stories told and memories made in swamps and on the banks of lakes last year, waterfowl hunting is a runner up. My friend and I actually started a waterfowl "business" last year. Although we currently only offer t-shirts, hats, koozies, decals and cornhole boards, we have made a little money.

I'll be duck hunting for the first time this fall. A cousin is letting me join him on his lease so I can try it out before committing a lot of money on a new activity.

^^^ Get ready to commmit a lot of money on it! I am hooked on it as well. Just picked up a boat to sea duck hunt out of this upcoming season. There is nothing like spending time in a duck blind with friends and family and my crazy duck dog!!

I just started duck hunting last year and I fell in love with it! It's a whole different kind of experience. Good luck to you!
