This guy perched about 12 yards from me in stand last night and watched me for about 40 minutes. We've known each other for 3 years now and he gets more comfortable with me every year. Crazy how a bird this big can be absolutely silent. Neither of us got a meal last night although his odds are probably better.

Cool!! I had an owl land in my tree early bow season. I caught movement to my right and saw an owl headed strait for my head!!! Scared the crap out of me!! He landed on a limb behind me.

That is neat, but wait till it is a great horned that lands next to you. Those birds are freeking huge.

What a beautiful bird! We've had a turkey buzzard build a nest in our run down barn for three years in a row. Scares the crap out of you when you go in there and it takes off. Only have had one little turkey buzzard hatch so far. He was a pretty ugly little guy.

Nice photo! Todd G got some really cool video footage of an owl this fall. I'm jealous.

Expecting my camera lens back from Nikon this week and I plan on getting out for some late season scouting/photography trips here pretty soon. Hopefully I run into some stuff worth taking photos of!

Very cool. Nice you got pics.

I've had the opportunity to watch hawks, owls, falcons etc every season. I think they are very cool birds.

    Again, great picture.

Thanks guys. There's lots of little red squirrels in the ravine I hunt in and it lives in and I keep hoping I'll get to see it make a kill, but when he's around he just watches them. He's suprisingly visible during daylight hours.

Those are cool pics... isn't it amazing how quiet they are on the wing. I've caught sight of a few owls "hunting" the area where I bowhunt, and when they fly by they are absolutel silent, it is really incredible how quiet they are.

Very cool! I used to have a great horned owl that was a similar companion for a few years back in NY. It was always great to see him.
