I was out checking trail cameras this week, and had my kids with me. I walked in front and knocked down the taller weeds for them. Well I will not make the mistake of walking through this stuff again. I did not know it was wild Parsnip and I did not know what it would do either. I have over 100 blisters and the Doctor said I will probably have scars on my arms for a couple of years from it. Be careful and do not make the same mistake I did.

Here is a pic of my arm. That blister was bigger than a quarter and about 3/4" high.

Kendall has permanent discolorations on his legs from parsnip burns.

Supposedly nobody is immune from it. He is extra sensitive to it and gets the blisters from the slightest contact. I have, so far, escaped any effects from it but after seeing his blisters, I do avoid it. We had a bunch of it growning along one side of our yard, since it's like kryptonite to K, I was tasked with eradicating it. :)

I hope you heal up fast!!

Pat that was from the walk over to other side of the valley. I walked that with Janelle and the kids.

Looks nasty Tom, and i bet no fun either. I made the mistake one time fishing and had to go to the bathroom in the weeds, well I ended up getting poison ivy on my boxers and shorts and from theri it spread all over the place and made my face swell up. It sucks, hope you heal up pretty quick!

I'm one of the lucky ones that is immune to poison ivy,oak and sumac but I'm not sure about this Parsnip stuff!! I have these plants all over on my hunting property. I blazed a few trails through it while wearing a short sleeve shirt and sweating in the sun with no issues yet. Here are a few pictures of what I think is Wild Parsnip on my property.

That is definetly it. I went through some earlier this year with no problems. It is sun activated and not like poison ivy, oak, and sumac, any one can get it.

I got it as bad I did because I went through ALOT of it when it was sunny and 92. Then we took the kids to the swimming pool and I got sun burn on my arms. DR said it was the worse case senario for me. I will not do that again though.

Huh, I've been through that stuff a lot and never had an issue. I'll be more careful around it now though.

I can't remember the name of the plant, but when I was working in the forest preserve we were told to be careful to only clear it at night because it would stain your skin for years if the oil touched your skin and was exposed to the sun.
