I just got some new camo for Christmas and was wondering when to wash with Dead Down Wind and if I wash with regular detergent, how many times does it need to be washed with DDW before the scents are gone? I don't have a big enough storage bag or an empty plastic box to store it in, so it's all hanging up in my closet.

    TIA

I had to wash my new camo twice before I got the new smell out. Hang them outside after they are washed for a day or two and you will be fine. Another thing I did was add some Fresh Earth Scent wafers to my storage container to continue with ridding them of that new smell.

i wash them twice as well just to make sure. i have hung my camo in the horse barn to help with smells. now that i am in the military i lay mesh on the bottom of my tote and put leaves and dirt under it to help it smell like outside.

Thanks. What kind of storage container are you using?

I have a Durabilt Camo Box made by Homz. They are tough and well made. Seals really well. Menards has them for $9.00.

It holds my hunting top and pants, hats, neck gaither, face mask, base layers, socks, boots, camera arm, camera, binoculars, rangefinder and backpack and it still has room.

I run an empty load in the washer to get out the wifes smelly stuff, then I wash my camo's with baking soda only, My hunting clothes NEVER see detergent of any kind.
