Hello fellow bow hunters.I have posted a few post and love this site just as i love bow shooting and the lifestyle. My ? now is ive got some st axis 400s that are 28 inches.and weight 252 grains.I am gonna run a 125 grain bh and fp witch makes my arrow weight now up to 377.Is that arrow on the lighter side in the middle or heavy side.I have a martin onza 3 and its a 60 pound bow thats set at 62 and i have a 27 inch draw.Idealy what is a great totaly weight for my arrows. To me it dosnt have to be the fastest arrow and my bows ibo is rated at 340 but i havent tested that.I will be hunting turkey, pigs, and white tail and some mule deer also. Thanks for any input.:nana:

Just curious but does the 377 grains include the head insert, nock, fletchings and arrow wrap (if they are wrapped). If that isn't figured into it your weight is probably up closer to 400 grains depending on those components.

Personally my completed arrow is around 365 grains. I am planning a change in arrows this off season and will be going to an arrow around 430. I'm making the switch because I feel mine are a little on the lite side and want a bit more momentum and KE.

GABowhunter makes a good point, make sure you include the weight of all arrow components. IMO 377 grains would be a decent arrow weight for 62 pounds DW.

I'd say thats a great arrow for what you'll be hunting, with maybe the exception of some big hogs. They can be tuff, especially if you hit that shoulder shield. But I'm sure big hogs have been killed with lighter arrows.

As with most archery equipment, there is quite a bit of leeway and options. No one perfect fit all size with most equipment.

What is most important is hitting where you need to. And have you bow tuned, shooting darts. Make sure you can put the arrow exactly where it needs to be and you can kill em with most any well tuned shaft.
