Well these are the last 2 pics I got off my memory card of my Moultrie I40. Right before the 5ft deep creek overflowed it's banks by 2ft. Think they might cover it under warranty?:(

user error. I doubt it. I'd take it apart and let it completely dry out. It works with keyboards and such

Wow.... cool photo's but it sucks for the camera. I never tried dealing with Moultrie's customer support. I had enough of their cameras fail on me to realize I just needed to get rid of them and never purchase another.

Yeah, I have cleaned and dried alot of electronics. Used to be in the 2-way and Cellular warranty repair business. This is a definate no-fix. Batteries were still hot and corroded alot of the PCB and surface mount components.

BuckMagnet, so what cameras do you suggest in the I40 price range? I really never had any issues with it once I did a SW upgrade. I am however in the market for a replacement.

Well, I havn't really used anything other than my Reconyx over the past year, but here are a few of the things that I noted from past game cameras...

Moultrie.. I owned two 35mm... one worked a week and the other didn't work out of the package. I owned several of the 1.3megapixel models and they worked, but trigger speed and battery life were horrible. I also had a I60 and two I40's. All three lasted between a week to about 3 months. Battery life and trigger speed weren't bad, but the LCD screens inside stopped working and then the photos turned into a a mixture of neon green and purple blobs before I finally gave up.

Stealth Cams... several 35mm and they worked great besides being a little tricky on loading the film. I purchased their first digital when it came out along with a solar panel and the battery life was still TERRIBLE. Trigger speed was horrible, at times we noted up to a 30 second delay. Photo quality wasn't bad, but not great. I have used a few of their newer models and they seemed to be decent but not up to the standards I have.

Cuddeback.... I owned 2 C3000's and both worked great for about a year and a half and then they would start randomly taking photo's every minute after something trigger it. I actually had a raccoon on the first photo and then next 600 photo's on the memory card had nothing on them. The Expert worked great until water got into the housing due to poor design.... Cuddeback wanted to charge my friend to have it repaired. I havn't tried the Capture but it seems as though they figured out their problems (atleast with the Capture Flash)

TrailMac- Camera was little more pricey but worked great for awhile I started noticing the camera wasn't taking pictures so I sent it into TrailMac. I recieved it back and was told that one of the switches was in the wrong place (I checked that before I sent it in) and they also replaced the plastic that covered the lens. I can't remember how much it cost me, somewhere around $75, but after setting the unit up again I had the same exact problem. Customer service was horrible.

CamTrakker- Pricey but a great unit. Never had any problems, good trigger speed, good battery life, GREAT photo quality.

Swamp Ghost- This is my buddies "home brew" that he had ordered. This unit is very good and uses the Sony P41 camera which takes awsome photos. Trigger speed is good, battery life is good, but the Sony P41 won't accept large memory cards 2GB or higher which stinks if you plan on leaving the camera out for an extended period.

Reconyx- EXPENSIVE, but the best performing camera I have used. Battery life is simply amazing, mine has been out all summer and the batteries are down around 20%... alot of companies can claim this and it may be true, but those cameras havn't taken 1/5th the amount of photos that the Reconyx has taken. For a few months I was getting over 1,000 photo's per week and the past several months I have averaged in the 350-750 photo's per week range. Trigger speed is second to none, it truly is 1/5th of a second so you don't miss any action. The only complaint I have is that the Covert IR on the RC60 doesn't extended far enough... Reconyx has addressed this and now has a H.O (high output) model that has roughly twice the IR range.

Sorry for the long post but I have been a game cam fanatic for awhile.... if I was in the market for a low to mid range unit right now there are only three that I would check out... Cuddeback Capture Flash, Bushnell Trophy, and the ScoutGuard units.
