Nope. They will walk on those clothes until they find a way in, or go all the way up to your head.
Now, if you spray those clothes with Permethrin, you're good to go.

Awesome to hear... and I'm glad you brought this thread up again to the top... I hadnt seen it previously and I'm glad I got a chance to read it. Do you know if the reaction you got was anything related to the Lyme disease?

Glad to hear it man! My coworker's wife can no longer eat red meat due to a tick bite. I guess I'm lucky (so far) because I've been bitten literally hundreds of times. They were mostly "seed ticks" though.

What reactions do people have to the meat? Is it anaphylaxis? I had Lyme 4 years ago and treated it with antibiotics after finding the rash. Haven't had many problems, but just had one embedded on me the other day again (great), so now I have to watch it.

The seed tick or "turkey mite" as some call them is the larva stage of the lone star. I got eat up by them yesterday.

We have them by the billions on Long Island. The only thing worse than getting bit by a lonestar is getting covered in lonestar larve. They are tiny little red bastards (commonly misidentified as chiggers) that come in clusters of 100 or so, they are so small they work their way through clothing, socks, hats... and get lost in leg hair. When they bite they leave a little red bump; this looks like a rash when you have several hundred bites. After about 2 days the allergic reaction starts and you begin to itch like a crack head, until you cover the bites with benadryl ointment. Trust me from experience, these guys SUCK!

As others have said...Permethrin Permethrin Permethrin. The only way to avoid them that I have found.

One of the guys I hunt with is from NY. A number of years ago he was all of a sudden deathly allergic to beef and pork. Two years ago he became allergic to venison as well. I wonder if this is what happened to him.

Hey Colton, good for you!...Please elaborate a little if you will...I developed this problem 8 years ago before anyone heard of ticks causing this...been a crazy long story which includes misdiagnosed heart issues...anyway, how was it that you've "been cleared"? was there a remedy?

Man if theres one thing I absaloutly hate, that would be a tick. If I saw a huge daddy long leg on me I would just flick it off, but if I found a tick on me, I would first scream for 3 hours, then take it off, cry for 3 more hours, then amputate that limb. yup, as you can see, I hate ticks.

hey man! when i originally got bit the doctors said i might grow out of it. They said just give it time and see where it goes from there. I went back and they took blood and they said my numbers have gone down significantly so they said i could try to eat it again!
