Ok guys. I have never done a food plot before and we have about 135 acres to hunt. Mostly woods and a couple small fields. There are some open spots in the woods that look pretty good to start a plot in. Problem is that there isn't a great water supply near by. There is sign of good deer in there but the nearest water supply is a little less than a mile away. I considered maybe making some watering holes but access is kinda tuff. Is it worth doing up a food plot when water is so far away? Thanks in advace guys!!

I would do a food plot and bury a kiddie pool and fill it with water :D

What do you think it is a pool party?:D;), i'm thinking of trying the pool as well. How did you transport the pool to where you wanted it gutone? I have a place I want one but it's about 1 mile from the road and it's not easily accessible.

I am very lucky as I can drive my truck there. I have a setup with 2 55 gallon drums and a small gas powered water pup that fit in my truck box :deer:

I would most certainly still put food plots out. If you can incorporate watering holes then great!! If not, oh well. We have a spot that is not really near any water but are considering damming of one of the field drains that runs through our woods in hopes that it will fill with water eventually.

Most likely if the deer are staying on your land there is water somewhere closer.Dig out a depression that will get run off.The main benefit with using a pool is that you don't have as much soaking into the ground

Sorry for the delay. Was on a trip. I kind of incorporated both suggestions this afternoon. I found a low spot where rain water tends to run to and I put in one of the kiddy pools on clearance from Walmart. Hopefully that will keep me from having to haul as much water out there. I moved one of my cameras out there so I will keep yall posted on how well its doing.
