Hey, im brand new to hunting and bow hunting. I have a cheap bow and gear no stand I was using my brothers when he wasn't hunting. I want to get a kick ass bow that will hit the deer hard while also being light and quiet, any suggestions on bows?
I also want to invest in a good climbing stand, I've never used one and don't know anything about them, but I've learned some of the paterns the deer are taking on the property I hunt and I want to be able to move to diff trees during the day and not be stuck in 1 tree expecially if the wind sucks. Please give me info on how to use a climbing stand and also what else I'd need to buy that the stand might not come with.
1 last thing, the coyotes have been murdering the deer where they bed, any tips to get rid of these coyotes? Do electronic callers work, and any way to bait them?

Thanks for your help! I haven't gotten my first deer yet, but I've seen a few just didn't have a shot what a rush bow hunting is! I drew back on a spike, but I was so excited and didn't concetrate and ended up spooking him when my arrows on the quiver hit the gun rail as I was following him in my peep. Im surprised he didn't hear my heart beating so hard haha. My brother in law ended up getting him 2 weeks later, I was there nice 1st deer for him it was 120lbs, I keep telling him he took my spike haha

Ohhh a dow was walking past me and it wasn't in an open area, how do you draw it to you? A caller? Or is it just luck? Thanks again sorry for the long message!

just a quick note on a climber...
i bought a lone wolf sit and climb last year and have used it all this season so far and i absolutely love it! its the most comfortable climber i've sat in, its light (only 20 pounds) and packs down nearly flat making it nothing to carry through the woods. the best commercially made climber out there in my opinion. but with this comes price. i paid 365 for mine and got a deal on it.

    just a suggestion....

As far as bows go get to a pro shop and shoot as many as possible and get the bow that is comfortable to you.
As for climbers for my money you cant beat a Summit Viper!

As far as bows...gotta look at Hoyt and Bowtech's. It's a lot about feel and budget to be honest. There are some exceptional bows being produced right now. Climbers, I too have to say Summit Viper. Best of luck and save those pennies.

I am assuming that from your post that you are hunting private property? If not I would suggest you look at a good set of sticks and a hang-on. I hunt a lot of public and it not being able to trim branches makes a climber a real challenge. It really limits the trees that you can hunt out of.

I highly recommend the Lone Wolf stands. Yes they are expensive but I feel they are the best. JFergus was right about compromising with a climber on occasion. I do use my Lone Wolf handclimber a lot but I am starting to use my hang on and sticks more often. Save your nickels and buy a lone wolf. As far as a bow, there are so many good ones now, you don't need a $1200 setup for a nice bow. I recommend going to your local archery shop, not your big store like Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc. go to the local shop you want to support and I bet they will support you and your efforts as well. Good Luck!!

Only piece of advice I can give you is to save up your money. Everyone has their opinions on what is best, you will figure out what you like and want or need. One thing is for sure you will need some serious cash to start from scratch! Good Luck man!
