The doctors said that Rick would be in a vegetative state for life, guess sometimes things turn out for the better Doctors told his parents that Rick would live in a vegetative state, but his parents, with the help of Tufts University engineers, recognized that his sense of humor indicated intelligence. At the age of 12, Rick was able to learn how to use a special computer to communicate using movements from his head. The first words he typed were, "Go Bruins!", and the family learned he was a sports fan. If you can watch that without getting choked up......you don't have a pulse. I've watched it multiple times, already. Bruce nailed it.
Seen that quite awhile back. Amazing to say the least. Character is something you can build throughout your life. Even if you never had any you can always start anew. That fathers character, courage, and love for his son is something every one of us can learn from. Can you imagine a world full of men like that?
Probably one of my favorite video's/stories...I have been periodically pulling that up for years...so much emotion every time I watch that. What a Dad...and what a Man! Here is how I discovered this story originally - SI article by Rick Reilly: http://cjcphoto.com/can/
I watched the video on the homepage of their website. I was in awe. Absolutely pure love right there.
