I was in one of my local Walmart stores today and had to visit the hunting section. No matter how manny times I go in one, thats the first place I want to go. I was somewhat impressed at the food plot seed, minerals and call supplies. Then I seen their archery section. To be a Walmart I was again somewhat impressed. They had a pretty big sellestion of Carbon Express broadheads 12 different ones to be exact. They had the Muzzy's and even 3 different NAP broadheads and even Rage. They had several different releases, all kinds of arrow building supplies including NAP Quick Fletch, fletching glue, knocks and inserts. They had wisker buscuites and two different types of True Glow sights including one that had a sight light included. There was a bunch of other odds and end stuff too along with arrows. What I was really srprised to see were the NAP and Rage broadheads and NAP Quick fletch. Good to know they sell this stuff now. Especially if its one of those Late Saturday night or Sunday hunting emergencies.
I too always gravitate toward the hunting/fishing section. In fact, my wife started looking at receipts from Wal-Mart and noticed that every time I go I happen to pick up a lure or two or something hunting related. I've never seen NAP or Rages there. Everything archery-related that I have seen there is usually very low quality stuff. I'll have to check out their archery stuff next time I go.
They didn't carry them last season. I guess they have someone in purchasing that is a little more knowledgeable about quality archery equipment now or something. I was actually verry shocked to see them.
It all depends on where you live. I used to work at a Wal-Mart that sold guns. The one I live by now, you're lucky to find anything archery related let alone firearms.
That's awesome. My walmart here is junk. We have a "rural king" that has a ton of NAP, Rage, Carbon Express, and G5 stuff. There's a walmart a ways away that has a lot more selection, I'll have to stop by.
We have two within 25 min. (thats close for where I live) One has no hunting stuff out except the left over turkey hunting stuff. The other is the one I went to today. Maybe the other one will have more once the put it out as it did last year. I can't wait to see what they have when they do put it out.
Our Wally world is decent for hunting stuff. This time of year is still a bit early for them though. Right now they sporting goods section is full of mostly baseball equipment.
My Walmart sucks. There making it bigger right now and hope they start stocking some more hunting/archery gear.
The Wal-marts here sucks in Ontario for hunting stuff,I always have to make a trip to New York for a better hunting selection in Wal-mart.
Our local walmart is currently being renovated and had no hunting section. Hopefully when it's done they put the hunting section back.
I have two Wal Mart's within 15 miles of me and neither of them have a whole lot of anything in terms of archery gear. Occasionally, they'll have a couple of calls or something that I'll be interested in. Otherwise, its mostly Remington clothing and Allen archery stuff. Thank goodness there is a ****'s right down the road too that has a bit more and always has higher quality stuff.
You do mean the hunting section when you go to Walmart right? I go in this order: Proshop, ****'s, Online, Basspro (only if my wife goes to the mall it is attached to), Gander and Walmart hunting section any time we are in there just to see if there is anything I can use. I did notice Walmart was really high compared to ****'s with the NAP Quick fletch though. $7 and change for a 3 pack. ****'s was $19.99 for a 12 pack.
It took me a minute to realize that the word ****'s is blocked, or at least I am assuming that is why some of the posts have words replaced with ****'s. That is kind of funny.
Wal-Marts, like many other stores of it's kind, are seasonal and regional. This time of year the isles are usually stocked with decent quality hunting gear, equipment and clothing. If you were to go back next March, my guess is it would be slim picking.
Our local Walmart used to really stock up on all sorts of hunting equipment just before season. I'd always wait until the season was over and they would have stuff at almost give-away prices. That's when I would stock up. The last few years though, they have really cut back on what they carry. Now it's mostly junk with a few good things thrown in here and there. Now we have a Big R in town and they carry great stuff year-round so I mainly go there. Besides, I'm boycotting Walmart now. Their labor practices in their retail stores are third-world.
