Shut out again tonight. I am 2 for 6 in terms of seeing deer. The only good thing is that the 4 deer I have seen all season have all been within range. I have noticed that when I am truly buck hunting that I do not see as nearly as many deer each sit.

But I am getting mentally ready to start making some all day hunts late next week. Bring the pain.

I also plan on doing some all day sits soon. Since the opener I've been in stand from daylight until 11 or so, go home for lunch, and try to be back in stand at 3 or 4. That little break in the day is awesome. I'll be missing it soon enough.

I'm working the night shift right now. I get off Monday morning and I'm off for three weeks. I can't wait.

I've seen some deer every time I've hunted, and most I've had a clean shot at. Missed one, twice, when I didn't realize my peep sight had moved. I've seen a couple small bucks... a small 4/6 pointer and a decent 8 pointer. Actually thought the two bucks were going to fight.. Grunted them in, from opposite directions they arrived at the same time. Pretty cool.

This week my cousin and I are tag teaming (I'm a weekday hunter, work weekends), we're heading out to do some rattling and noise making to see what we can bring in. My plans for the week include filling my freezer and potentially filling a wall. Best of luck to everyone ;)

It kinda like when you buy a new truck all of the sudden you see the same one everywhere. My buddies and I used to hunt bucks so hard that most of the time we looked past does and didn't realize it until we wanted one.

Thanks for the explanation. I shot four does last year and was proud of each and every one of them. I would be extremely proud to take one this year as well. That being said, I have a goal to kill a 3.5+ year old off the land I hunt, and that is what I will try to accomplish each and every hunt until the last day of the hunting season.
