I am waiting for a shoulder mount to be completed. In September it will have been at the taxidermist for a year. They gave me a due date for July and I called them a few times and they said it still isn't done yet. Is this common? I've never had anything mounted before so I don't know if I should start making a stink over it or not. I went with this taxi because of their quality reputation but I feel I also slightly overpaid. What do you think?

We took 4 bucks to the taxi last year, 2 in September, 1 in October, and 1 in November. The September deer were back in January, October deer was mid Feb and the November buck being further down in line with all the other deer was May. If he is well known and stays busy I guess there could be a decent amount of wait time but I would start getting a little anxious to get my mount back.

I wouldn't be overly concerned yet since they originally stated July. My mounts were overdue by about a month or two as well. With most taxidermists you get what you pay for, there's a few around here that will do them for $325 and have them back within 2-3 months but they look like stuffed animals. Another guy charges $500 and has a turnaround of 2 years, but his are show worthy mounts.

Ultimately if you are happy with the end result the wait will have been worth it.

That kind of wait time is normal, atleast feom my experience and it is also the norm to go past the quoted date.

They are only a few weeks behind at this point so I wouldn't be too concerned.

We have taxi's that are often times 2+ years out here. It's hard, but just be patient. The last thing you want to do is push him into getting the job done.

Ours take right around a year. Nothing too worry about. Especially if it looks good. Don't want to mess that up.

Ok thanks. Just wanted to check and make sure I wasn't over reacting. I brought it to Northeast Taxidermy in Middletown, CT. He is a very well known taxi and was on some taxidermy tv show about two years ago. When I went to his shop I saw mostly exotic animals like elephants and lions and kudoo and stuff. Very interesting place.
